1) Yes you can change it without changing the oil (I did) 2) Not sure if mentioned, but on the 2007, the wires and connections running in front of the part are truly a pain in the ass to navigate but doable. 3) Also used the 5.5m to open that clamp on the airbox assy. It was definitely going to strip if I used anything else. You'll most likely need the extensions on the ratchet as well, used various sizes for my fix. 4) Pretty easy repair, I walked away a time or two after getting frustrated with those electrical lines I mentioned.

Yeah, this was due for an oil change anyway and kept us from making a big mess .Some of the issues this code states is due to dirty oil clogging it up as well so didn't hurt.

Can you change only the vtec assembly without draining your motor oil?

Yea , you don’t have to drain the oil . This car needed a change anyway and I didn’t want any excess oil to spill out during the change.

I recently did a valve adjustment for my 08 with a new cover gasket. Then 3 days later I’ve got p2646 code.. not 47. Could it be possible that dirt got into the engine while I was doing the valve adjustment? 168k miles on my car.

Perhaps some bits of old gasket fell into the motor . Unfortunately I can only speculate what might have happened . It could be something wasn’t plugged in or it got clogged up with sediment or just happened to fail at the same time as the work you did

@@JustFixinGarage thank you , it was the old gasket from the vvt solenoid. I just changed it and no leaks. But now my vtec doesn’t activate after 65 mph. Do you think the pressure oil switch like you mention needs to be switched? Or the whole assembly?

Does it stop the grinding sound after a cold start?

That's a starter cog/flywheel mesh retraction issue which becomes a non-issue with a starter replacement AFAIK. For some reason TONS of people report on it and ask about it but NEVER check back in to let people know what the dX and fix was. Attention spans, man.

It’s worth a try. I weighed the options of time vs cost of part and going back in there . If it was my own car I would try cleaning it given it’s about an hour or so to remove . Depends on what it’s worth to you but cleaning it could possibly fix it . Brake cleaner would probably work well .

I just linked it for you. It was 80 when I bought it back in January. You can shop around for it as well. The part I bought was Dorman 918-172. As someone else commented you could try cleaning it up first. We decided to just go ahead and replace it.

I should also mention if you want to replace just the pressure switch autozone has part number PS511 . If you want the entire assembly which includes the pressure switch dorman 918--172 includes it.
