Didn't expect you to mention our island in this video. Pretty cool that you have relatives here. I suppose there are a few Americans living around these parts, some of them for many years. I'm working on an E82 currently (unicorn here), I have plans for a restomod type build and while I've managed to pull the whole interior out, the AC unit still remains attached somewhere, hence my browsing this sort of topic. Once AC is out, I can start working on stripping back the wiring loom to bare essentials then work on a custom interior.

You just saved me what I was told by the dealer would be an $800 fix! I pulled that tape out and it's perfectly fine now!

That’s weird cause I had a piece of foam mesh carpet thing stuck in my blower motor and bought a new one from FCP Euro but now it’s fixed and running great

HOLY CRAP!!!! Now I am basically convinced on what my thoughts were when I found that in my blower… this is what I think might be happening. I also had the piece of tape in the blower! When I found it, after the first recall, I thought it was odd BUT left it in there because I wondered if it was a way for BMW tell if someone had self diagnosed! I LEGIT THINK THIS IS A BMW TACTIC TO QUICKLY IDENTIFY IF SOMEBODY HAS PULLED OUT THEIR BLOWER MOTOR. IT SERVES SOME PUR to

Having the fan motor on cold side leading up to vent intake causes condensation to cover top of fan motor when freezing cold outside and then next day car interior heats up in the sun. This when car is parked up. Got in car and discovered fan didn’t run. Fan stuffed so replaced fan as it has shorted out fried from this condensation. Also this water rusts out bearings too and some end up with stiffening of bearings and failure in electrics from the extra drag going on.

I had the same tape piece in mine when I took out to clean. It looks like that stuff they wrap around the air sensor by the cabin air filter.

FYI > "Whatever that is" (at 4:26) is the screw-in tow fitting that screws into the bumper. Flat-bed tow truck driver used it to pull my e90 onto his truck. #BTO22

Thanks for the video. I was trying to fix my 2015 X3 f25 and this videos was almost exactly on point. I could not find one for my car, so this was perfect.

That insulation tape most likely came from one of the cables on the side of the cowl for the bonnet (hood) sensor or the automatic climate control sensor, it breaks down and becomes loose, so easily can get sucked into the vent system! Thanks for showing this, I have been hearing a screeching noise HVAC blower in the cold winter months when the blower is on the second speed, goes away after a while if I put the blower on the third speed for a while. But will have to remove and inspect, consider either lightly lubricating or replace if absolutely necessary...

Can you still get the same noise while not running the AC?

2007 BMW 328xi had 120k up to 160k just from driving it to and from work it's a fixer upper but I love it. But my car seams to have a small surge when its idling

That blower motor is such a better design than the e46.

That was easy. I was laying on top of the engine on my e83 to replace that.

I check my blow motor and it was spinning fine, but still no cold or hot air blowing. I can hear a hissing gas releasing type of noise when turning AC on at first but it stops shortly after starting and then nothing

It was the radiator hose, which caused all my coolant to leak lol

I CANT GET THE DAMN THING OUT

Had fans go bad , never had to pull one for junk in it. Friends have told me they have had rodents an such fall out.

The recall is not the blower motor itself, but the wiring/connector to the blower motor (shorting risk). I also have it done (for free) at the BMW dealer. They will assess how much to replace. The electronic unit on the blower was replaced already because it failed a year before.

When you said insulation & siding, are you doing spray foam insulation? I'm in awe of the shop. Patience young grasshopper. You'll spot the right SMG E46 ///M3 soon.
