2005 Trailblazer Overheating Issues - Fan Operation
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Troubleshooting an overheating issue I am having with my 2005 Traiblazer. It seems to only overheat in stop in go traffic and after driving highway speeds after 45 minutes or so. I have replaced the fan clutch, fan clutch relay, gone through 2 tstats (verified they worked by boiling them), flushed and cleaned radiator, all hoses and clamps are good, and when I observe the coolant through the radiator cap it seems to be flowing just fine.

Thanks to this video I have been fighting with my trailblazer overheating only with the ac on after about 45 minutes of driving. I pulled the clip off and moved the cable and zip ties it to the battery compartment and the fan kicked on like I had never seen it run before and it was after my wife's drive home from work which is a 30 minute drive and I then ran it for 25 minutes with ac on full blast and the temp gauge never went above 190-195. Just amazing moving one cable solved an over heating issue
These engines run hot and the factory temp gauge is inaccurate. It is normal for the gauge to be showing 1 or 2 lines above 210 on a really hot day.
Hey, I'm fairly handy with cars and engines , but what did you do?? video just shows the engine running, if you disconnected the fan clutch wiring plug , what about the check engine light and codes every day ??
I think i have the same issue did you replace the efan connection? you stated you hardwired ? you added more wire? tucked away you moved the wire away?
Can you please do a tutorial as to what you did? I'm having the same problem with my trailblazer. What is the efan connection?
My '05 TB has the same problem. Can you show how to do the hardwire?
It ended up being the connection to the eFan. Since the headlights and efan are part of the same wiring harness, and a replacement is like $200, I just hardwired the connection with plenty of slack tucked away. My tblazer has been running great for a few months now with no issues, so the problem seems to be solved.
Tim Davis i am from Jordan live in Kuwait my Trailblazer LTZ 2004 have same problem i change all parts (flushed and cleaned radiator, all hoses and bump) but the problem still how you solve this please explain here is very hot weather 55C so please i am waiting your replay
you moved the wire away from that area please reply thank you
Haveing the same promblem any help?
Can someone help me with that? My husband bought an GMC ENVOY XL SLE 2004, 6cyl engine and need to fix (replace) some parts because was overheating. He replace all the 6 coils, radiator, fan, fanclutch and sparkplug all of them for a new ones. The SUV start running fine but after 3days just 3days the SUV start overheating again. Can someone tell me What could be the problem?
Does this video make any sense? (no diagnosis, no problem discussed, no description of any work being done) Just see you running your engine, video of your fan and commenting the temp is 210 and goes up when someone is accelerating. Nice

What relay are y'all talking about since the radiator fanclutch is straight to the water pump?
Hi im having the same issue with my trailblazer. When you say that the efan connection wasnt working do you mean the fan that is in the fan shrowd?

Yes, it was the electrical connection. Whole new wire harness went for like $200 + labor. I cut the connection out and made my own connector.

Tim Davis thanks for the quick response. So it ended up being the a bad ground connection on the plugin? Did you just cut it a couple inches from the connection to splice a new one? Did it permanently fix your overheating problem. Every detail helps thanks

Yes, it was the factory connector. I had replaced the e-fan 3 times over a couple years, but the issue never got better. My brother ran a shop at the time, so we hooked it up to monitor the fan speed. A technician noticed when he grabbed the cable the RPM went to normal range, but when pressure was removed it slowed down. I cut the factory connector from each cable, spliced in about 1.5 ft or wire for slack, and attached some generic connectors to each side. This fixed my overheating issues for good, unfortunately it could not save the problematic transmission, which was rebuilt once and started going out again. I got rid of the trailblazer in 2014. Gave me a good 10 years!

@@luckybob34 I know this is a long shot, but I'm having the same issue. I've changed nearly every part of my cooling system. Basically, you just bypassed the factory fan clutch connection and wired the five wires directly from the harness to the clutch?

Hello need help with my 2004 Chevy TB..overheating after 30 min drive. Water pump, thermostat replaced..please advise and help
I hardwired the connection. basically I just snipped the efan connector, put about 8 inches of slack, wrapped in electrical tape and tucked it under the front of the car.
As much as I spend monthly on parts for my trailblazer I might as well give up and buy a new vehicle lol
Sir you did great favor helping people notice unusual parts to solve overheating issues.. the thing is most of us did not get it ( please upload small video show us your hardware ) 2 minutes video will cover things we want to see
