These engines run hot and the factory temp gauge is inaccurate. It is normal for the gauge to be showing 1 or 2 lines above 210 on a really hot day.

Thanks to this video I have been fighting with my trailblazer overheating only with the ac on after about 45 minutes of driving. I pulled the clip off and moved the cable and zip ties it to the battery compartment and the fan kicked on like I had never seen it run before and it was after my wife's drive home from work which is a 30 minute drive and I then ran it for 25 minutes with ac on full blast and the temp gauge never went above 190-195. Just amazing moving one cable solved an over heating issue

I had a similar problem with mine it ended up being the fan relay was bad it is in the underhood fuse box number 45 relay

Hi im having the same issue with my trailblazer. When you say that the efan connection wasnt working do you mean the fan that is in the fan shrowd?
@luckybob346 жыл бұрын
Yes, it was the electrical connection. Whole new wire harness went for like $200 + labor. I cut the connection out and made my own connector.
@brysonutsler78106 жыл бұрын
Tim Davis thanks for the quick response. So it ended up being the a bad ground connection on the plugin? Did you just cut it a couple inches from the connection to splice a new one? Did it permanently fix your overheating problem. Every detail helps thanks
@luckybob346 жыл бұрын
Yes, it was the factory connector. I had replaced the e-fan 3 times over a couple years, but the issue never got better. My brother ran a shop at the time, so we hooked it up to monitor the fan speed. A technician noticed when he grabbed the cable the RPM went to normal range, but when pressure was removed it slowed down. I cut the factory connector from each cable, spliced in about 1.5 ft or wire for slack, and attached some generic connectors to each side. This fixed my overheating issues for good, unfortunately it could not save the problematic transmission, which was rebuilt once and started going out again. I got rid of the trailblazer in 2014. Gave me a good 10 years!
@adamhoffoss57685 жыл бұрын
@@luckybob34 I know this is a long shot, but I'm having the same issue. I've changed nearly every part of my cooling system. Basically, you just bypassed the factory fan clutch connection and wired the five wires directly from the harness to the clutch?

I hardwired the connection. basically I just snipped the efan connector, put about 8 inches of slack, wrapped in electrical tape and tucked it under the front of the car.

@luckybob3411 жыл бұрын
It ended up being the connection to the eFan. Since the headlights and efan are part of the same wiring harness, and a replacement is like $200, I just hardwired the connection with plenty of slack tucked away. My tblazer has been running great for a few months now with no issues, so the problem seems to be solved.
