That’s some nostalgia right there. Missed that old V8 sound and the performance is still excellent for its age

Crazy how back in the day (gosh I feel “old” saying that), a 5.7L V8 pumping out 225kW was considered a powerhouse and yet today we have so many turbo 4 bangers in and around or have even more power than these classic V8’s and yet people still complain that they’re not powerful enough, too many egotistical people nowadays only care about numbers and badges rather than the beauty of a car. Really miss these now “oldschool” Holden’s, very rare to catch them on the road these days.

exactly... and these v8s actually last, my dad has a vx that has 230 k kilometres, it's yet to have any issues. I'd like to see where these boosted 4 pots end up in 24 years.

Lexus LS in a league holden never came close to. The 430 and 600. the 430 - 4.3L 207kw 417nm and a 6.5 0-100 in 2001. the 600 - know one can really say but maybe 400kw and 800nm and awd in 2007. Both drink 91. I was a hq caprice driver a long way back

What an awesome car! I currently own a 2017 WN Caprice which I love, however I actually prefer the classic long, low look of these WH's with that big, long sculptured rear end hanging off and the filler panel behind the rear door accentuating the stretched wheelbase; has the looks of a true old-school limo. A perfect sleeper would be one of these swapped with the 6.2L LS3 from the later WN/VF lurking under the bonnet.

Was that 60-110 really good or is it just me? It gets going once it gets the revs up and pretty well too. The car sounds fine as it is and a hell of a lot better than 99% of other VT-VX v8s out there with no muffler, they just sound like drone and moo in any driving apart from really high revs. Keep it stock, a lot more respectable and kind of nostalgic to when the LS was still new to our roads. Love these vids do more!

Yeah it was quick across 60-110. Long gearing helped I think. You can see the speedo climb pretty fast in the mid-to-top end. Yep, will try and do more 👍

I went to buy a WH almost identical to this (except V6) as i wasnt a big fan of the look of the bumpers i went and looked at a WK and WL i opted for the WL but either way despite the extra weight they all WH-WK & WL have better turn in then the normal commodore sedans Apparently its due to the F/R weight ratio being closer to 50/50

Easy to see why everyone put at least a catback on these things, between this and the AFM exhaust on L76/L77 motors probably the worst sounding factory V8 ever made. Nothing wrong with putting a catback on it mate then keeping the original exhaust in a shed for collectability Gotta hear the V8 otherwise what's the point!

Disagree. I've got a WN CAPRICE and am 50 next year had high Hp drag cars in my past and road cars but the thing with these is effortless cruising without the constant drone/noise catching your attention every time you move the throttle. The Caprice in the later years like mine do have a bit of an exhaust note unlike this Stato but the best thing is when you get up them you hear that lovely sound of the V8 up front opening up her lungs....

@@malsmith2012 my comment was this particular exhaust sounds terrible and like a vacuum cleaner. You can have a nice V8 note and drone free cruising without being a 105db straight piped beast; exhaust systems exist on a spectrum.
