2000 Blazer ZR2 Winter Truck Build Part 12: Rear Diff Disassembly

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Remember when Part 11 was going to be the end of this project for the year?
LOL
What started off as a quickie video on rear brakes is turning into a multi-part video on G80 locking differentials. So....... that's cool.

The creaking noise reminds me of when I had a broken leaf in the spring pack.

I used to cut my rear break lines, pinch them off & remove everything to do with the breaks on the rear. Most all of your stopping power is the front anyway but I've kept my 02' Blazer ZR2 stock since its in such beautiful shape. Gotta love TX, no rust

I just bought a 2005 blazer 2 door 4x4 and then I found your channel , and yes I had a house mouse the motor is good and the drive train , its mostly small stuff that's wrong with it ,like no radio , power steering seal leaking , somebody damage , but hey its a winter beater and has a lot off life left in it.

Man I picked up my 2000 about the same time you started posting and I’ve been wrenching on it all summer just like you have. I’m glad you’re doing all this because you’re working on some of the exact opposite stuff as I am but I can tell you’re done with it 😂 it’s so hard though because even OEM parts are dirt cheap!!!

Yeah, this project is well into "I'm an effing idiot" territory. But I'll probably drive it for the rest of my life, so it'll be worth it eventually.

The good thing about all this is, when you're done you have a solid vehicle. Plus you've learned enough about it you shouldn't have any problems keeping it running. I bought my 2000 4 door back off my mother in law recently who ran it into the ground for a number of years (I bought it in 2004 with very low miles), been doing a lot of work to get it running right again. Nowhere near as bad as what you started out with, though.
