Yeah the shilling is strong in this one. It's a pity, would have been a lot more interesting to hear more general differences with examples. The expensive vs cheap shoe video is much better in this regard (presumably because Fort B doesn't make shoes).

Gotta say there are tons of companies who mark up their items by tens or hundreds of dollars while their composition is still terrible. Price these days is starting to have less and less to do with quality. My favourite scarf is a black on black paisley pashmina that didn't cost me more than $100, the weave really shows off the texture/pattern, it's beautiful and has had way less problems than the Gucci men's scarf that pulls on anything it touches and is 4x the price.

I managed to get my paws on a gucci scarf that I actually did like the design for a great price. While the MSRP is absurd, I was rather impressed with it. Probably one of the better quality scarves I have purchased.

I'd love to see a "Tom Ford: Is It Worth It?" in regards to the suits. Perhaps a "What to Buy" would be great! I appreciate your content and always look forward to your next video. Have a wonderful day.

With Tom Ford you pay for the aura and feeling of Tom Ford. The Suits are great but as always - and reflecting the common opinion around here - not worth their mark up material and craftsmanshipwise. Splashing 5-10k for a personal bespoke suit is money better spend if you are not interested in the lifestyle and feeling Tom Ford projects.

I'd just be interested to see say alternatives to the Tom Ford look that might suit individuals looking for that particular look. When I say this I mean the cut of the suits and how they are cut to give a muscular look.

I'd say from personal experience the Tom Ford fragrances are definitely worth it. Not too expensive, in the grand scheme of things, but luxurious and wonderful.

I have had a double sided silk wool scarf for over 20 years. I still love it and it still looks like new. It's wonderfully warm without beeing bulky. It was made in Italy But it wasn't nearly as expensive... 😉

I'd love to see a review of the individual suits you have from the many different makers from around the world!

I suspect that women's scarves are regarded more as a fashion accessory than a functional garment. That girl at 10:02 certainly wasn't wearing her scarf to protect her throat. Myself, I prefer a fluffy knitted scarf that I can drape over my head and wind around my neck, thus offering full coverage.

I’m fairly new here, I love your videos because we have two sons and we need to teach them more in depth the importance of being a gentleman. Our oldest son has cerebral palsy but he is interested in one day getting married. I like that these videos are simple, teach a little background on why “things should be that way” Our son is learning, sometimes he needs to watch over and over in order to grasp the meaning of something that was said From table manners to how to treat a lady and why tipping his hat He would love to refine himself or go to a class. So this is the next best thing I can offer our sons Thank you so much

I remember in 2013 when Day of the Doctor came out, I loved the War Doctor’s costume and absolutely had to have a scarf that looked like his. I searched around online and found an Irish cashmere herringbone scarf in brown and it’s served me well ever since.

I would like to just take this time again to thank you for creating this channel and all of its content. Having basically raised myself I had absolutely no one to show me this and no help to be found fitting or with any other fashion subject you've covered.

The problem with the expensive scarfs is that when you have a beard like me, the scarf will always be in contact with my very stiff and coarse hair ...it will start shedding or tear and wear very rapidly... I paid 80 US for a disgner brand scarf and it is a disaster ...makes my white shirt looks absolutly filthy due to shearing and shredding ... didnt want to getrid off the beard, so I got rid off the scarf!

You can buy cheap woolen scarf in TKmaxx, i have two made of lambswool from DENTS. I paid 22$ each

I used to hate scarves, but I got my first good scarf this winter and it made a world of difference. It's silk/cashmere by Piacenza (via Joseph Abboud), and usually runs $225 but I got it for $50 or $60. It's very soft, very warm, and it doesn't irritate my skin like cheaper ones I've had. I can't see myself paying full price for it, but I definitely feel a big difference in quality.

It’s very hot in the summer where I live and I’ve turned to cotton and silk scarves, neckerchiefs and bandanas. In these cases a wide scarf is desirable because in many cases I may use it to cover my head!

I live in Ceará, Brasil, where the temperature goes 39 °C at afternoons and 27°C at nights, but here I am because this channel os fantastic!

I am trying to find out about cotton scarves for men, do you know what type of cotton is used to make cotton scarves. Are cotton scarves used in countries alot in autumn as they are lighter and less prone to laundering issues than wool? I know in some European countries cotton material is used in scarves particularly high end ones but rarely. Would these be perceived as good or cheap? What about handmade scarves and hand painted scarves because these are done by hand are they considered lower quality in the nmarketplace if made from good combed cotton?

I own a pretty nice 10$ scarf from H&M. Its light grey on one side and darker gray on the other so you can get that double-sided look as you show in 8:54 :). It's as 50x180cm, which is perfectly long, though be it a bit wide so I fold in half. I have it second season right now and it's great so far! I sadly don't remember the material but it's definitely warm and smooth to touch. I also got a silk paisley scarf for Christmas this year, dunno how much it cost but the difference is of course there, but in the end, I honestly have no resistance to buying a cheap scarf if I see the quality or I believe it will last. :) Anyway, great guide! I have to confirm most points, at least from my point of perspective :)

I only wear neck gaiters now, leaving it on throughout the day. Most gaiters on the market are fleece, and it's hard to find colors beyond black or grey. I actually like my gaiter and hat to match in color/fabric.

My favourite scarf is a merino wool scarf I picked up from Banana Republic. It feels wonderful to the touch, doesn’t shed little linty bits like some cashmere items can, and is perfectly warm and just the right size.

Much as I like them, I am reluctant to spend a lot of money on scarves as I find them too easy to lose!

12:10 For me I'm going with a single ply silk aviator scarf with 1930s USAAF roundels in white which honestly should never be more then $40... Because I live in north east Florida and while it does freeze it's only for a few days a year so I don't need a thick, heavy, bulky scarf that you need to tie... The reason I'm getting one at is is to use it as a neck/bow tie to complete my next gen(age 28-33) outfit as a tie would just get lost in my beard while a scarf I just trow on like aviatars of old won't and will help support my big autisytic head when looking down working or looking around in VR again like pilots of old.

Here in India a high quality and amazing kashmiri wool (or cashmere) is for 30 USD or lower than that I think it is pretty cheap in Pakistan and China as well

5:12 That's just isn't true as just like saying merino super 140 wool is the same as worsted Super 140 wool... Like for exemple I have a cardigan that has both nylon and acrylic so they must be different. And googling it both are very unique materials and have very real reasons to be used as a material.

My overcoat is black, so I have to stick to nicely colored scarves.

In general, a more expensive scarf will be better quality than a cheaper scarf, but I've found that only holds true up until $200 scarves unless there is some extremely intricate design or exotic material use. Burberry might be the "gold standard" in scarves. But you could buy the same thing from the people who make their scarves for half the price...or you can be Louis Vuitton simply robs their customers with low quality scarves. Honestly, scarves are one of those things I'd say stack them deep for what you can afford. They're a low wear item so they'll last a long time. Buy a couple that tickle your fancy.

Or for 1 just go on amazon and look up scarfs with whatever color you want.

I’m a scarf addict. I’ve tried many, but it’s been years now that I purchase one brand and one brand only, and that brand is Andreas 1947, sometimes written, 19Andreas47. Apart from the finest Cashmere being used, it’s the size that suits me. They measure 200cmx90cm, which is generous compared to others. They have different weights of Cashmere and I’ve tried them all. Personally I prefer the finest as they’re more versatile

as much as I like the idea of buying a thing made to last, I don't see this being the case with scarfs; you won't be using a scarf for 10 years, even 5 seems long, they will fade over time. That idea of 'investing' works better with things like leather, not really with things that you need to wash constantly.

Acrylic (polyacrylonitrile) is not equal to Nylon (family of polyamides), these fabrics are very different both chemically and functionally. Whereas acrylic is just a cheap not-so-warm poorly breatheable hypoallergic wool alternative, nylon is a fantastic multi-purpose outer shell fabric that can be made very expensive and functional. I gladly wear it during Russian fall-winter season. Anyway, nobody would ever make a scarf out of nylon, it's not warm and needs padding.

Test the qualitity of Balenciaga sneakers!

Honestly the title is misleading as it's less about what makes a quality scarf and more like "Why we suggest only buying high priced scarfs." As you skipped over the whole "Hallmarks of a Quality Men's Scarf" and clearing never bought a cheap scarf before this video as well as making uneducated mistakes that only take a few seconds to correct.

My $500 Louis Vuitton scarf is not rugged . My cheap $10 Damier patterned scarf will last longer for sure and it feels like cashmere. Never underestimate fabric technology. 🤡

The quality of Louis scarves is criminal. Scarves are inherently a low wear/low friction item so even a poorly made one should last darn near forever. But talk to anyone who reguarly wore one for a season and they'll tell you they look pretty tired.

$200 for a scarf is too much for me

I think there's a good difference in brands, quality, and prices between $10, $20, $40, and $90 scarves, but after a certain point, when you're paying over $100 for a scarf, the added benefits (if there are any) are just brownie points. A $40 scarf is likely as nice a scarf as most people will need and/or afford. Would I love the beautiful Fort Belvedere scarves, did I get the chance to own a few? Yes. But I can live with my $35 Tie Bar scarf.
