This was very educational. My Father-in-law always wears an ascot. I bought him a pocket square and he managed to make ascot out of it lol. Great styling of the Ascot.

Whoa, cool! Thanks for chiming in, Rex.
I wear ascot everyday and my favorite pairing is with jeans, white long sleeve shirt (rolled up sleeves for more casual) and sometimes a vest. This gives me the freedom to wear vivid color ascot with floral or unique patterns! If someone accuses me of not changing my clothes I point to the ascot and say "see different color today!" Really looking forward to trying the four in hand knot, never have done that. Thanks for the great video and showcasing some amazing ideas!
When I hear ascot, I think Fred from Scooby-Doo, but that's probably because I'm too young to have ever seen one anywhere else.

Fred actually wears a neckerchief. His orange ascot Looks just like the orange neckerchief that I wore in Boy Scouts. Ascot or neckerchief, it is incredibly sexy. I wear one all the time. And sometimes I tie and wear one of my many Boy Scout neckerchiefs as an ascot like this man is wearing.
I've been rockin' the ascot for almost every formal function I've gone to for the past eight years, including my wedding. I've also worn them for an added dapper element for the Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride, an annual charity motorcycle ride. It's amazing how a simple, unexpected piece elevates an outfit, and generates so many compliments.

I just bought my first ascot today. I absolutely love it. Can’t believe it took me so long to start wearing one. Thanks, Brian!!!
Wearing an ascot with a crew neck sweater has been my favorite style to wear casually for the past few years during the colder months. Taking cue from my wife I started wearing ascots and silk scarves (Hermes 65 cm size folds really well and you can get them in cashmere silk blends for more warmth) with crew necks. It also comes in pretty handy during the winter months in Southern California where it's warm under the sun and cold indoors (because they still blast the freakin' AC) or when the sun sets. An ascot takes less space than a scarf and I can easily have it stashed in my jacket and put it on whenever I need it. It really is a good way bring together an outfit. If my dad could pull it off...anyone can pull it off!

That's awesome, Joshua! With a sweater is a great way to wear it. Many thanks for the comment and enjoy your weekend.
I love your videos. This one ESPECIALLY. I loved the tips for the best ways to ascot up! The last suggestion, the ascot with a crew neck sweater and no shirt was so cool. I'd have never even thought of that. I tried it and I LOVED IT. Thank you mate.
Thank you! I have been on a 20 year, completely unsuccessful, one man mission to revive the Ascot. But I don't care, I love them. I appreciate the 3 ways to tie an ascot, and agree that the once over will simply have you tugging it up all day, just slips away (silk after all... New Idea you brought to me was under the crewneck sweater almost mock turtle version. Kudos. Love the content. and BTW, was interested to see all these "ascots" were what I would call neck scarves as I do have many ascots that are designed for that exact purpose, wide and usually pointed at the ends, thin, sewn in folds in the middle like the front of an old cummerbund except that portion is around the back of the neck. I have a few of the long scarves like you show. Found the ascots in London and Paris mostly, not easy to find. Keep it up!
I don't know of anyone who wears an ascot these days, but really appreciate the lesson. I'm tempted. Thank you.

The last outfit was genius! I can't help but feel the association with the stereotypical rich guy when seeing and ascot and often find it to look too stuffy, but that last outfit made it look natural and elegant.

What a great, informative video. Straight to the point, easy to follow even though I've never worn an ascot before and you included some great demonstration of how to style an outfit. I really appreciate the explanation for why the matching or accent colours were chosen and what effect that has on the whole look. Thanks!
Just love your style, I'm wearing an ascot today even I'm a woman but I find an ascot very stylish. I love the looks of the navy jacket and the one with the sweater which is exactly unexpected but very cute! I'll try that. thank you for this great video!

Just returned from Italy with my first ascot. So excited to wear it this weekend to a nice dinner. 😍 Thanks for this video. Great presentation and pacing.
This is terrific. Very helpful and your modeling of different styles is a big plus! You wear them all well and the color palette is right-on for your skin tone. Love the winged jacket collar. Class looks!

Davi Santos thanks, Davi. That’s the trick! Don’t approach it as a costumey accessory. Or maybe more to the point, don’t build a costume around it. Stay true to it’s original intent and it’ll look great.
Every outfit is a masterpiece. So much class and style without ever looking old-fashioned, pretentious and "costumish"!
Thanks so much for this video, I was on the fence about getting one but now I'm convinced. I think it looks great!
I just ordered up my very first ascot. A nice steel color paisley from Elizabetta. I have always dreamed of wearing one. ThankYou for your wisdom !
I found your video most helpful. I have worn a cravat all my life particularly during the colder weather. I now know how to tie it correctly. Than you.
Thank you for making a video that simplifies different ways to tie an ascot. In particular, I appreciated the example which showed an ascot worn in a subdued manner resultant from choice of close-matching other garment pieces...this was an idea I had to "down-play " the look while still facilitating the elegance of the ascot. Well done !

Outstanding. That’s all that needs to be said!
Digging this. I might have to get one. My city dictates tee shirts, jeans and sportswear year round, so wearing anything slightly formal is unusual. I enjoy a classic aesthetic. The ascot serving as a less formal version of a neck tie seems extremely appropriate in my own mind, but ironically, I'm sure to experience more public stares if I wore one. No biggie though, it's not a bad thing if one is inclined toward style, and people take notice.

This is very informative video. I think that Look 3 - Classic Prep is really inspired and effortlessly elegant. For me the actor, Edward Fox in the film, The Day of the Jackal (1973) gives the most definitive look for any men who want to wear a cravat. Large polka dots cravats (there are about 5 different cravats) that he wears in this film really suit him and it makes his look incredibly memorable.
Thank you so much for this. My institute has this as a part of the uniform and this was very helpful.
I love the ascot especially with a double breasted blazer or with a waistcoat. I have quite a few of them and do wear them a lot. They do have a feel of the past but that for me is a bonus not a negative. Good video and food for thought.

Yes this is the look I've always wanted when looking wealthy and less formal. You don't see it that much today and that's why I love it. I also love the Victorian look as well with the high color shirts and double breasted top coats or vests with a broach or ascot tie under the shirt or on the shirt..

I consider the ascot to be a Link to surpase the casualness of any outft without drowning it to any real formality. In a sense its a way of adding some dressy flarishness. As usual, great content. Also, kuddos for the article on how you proposed to Mrs Sacawa on the site, you nailed it and it was great to get to know that intimate part of your life.

Love this video, I wear an ascot on occasion. I usually wear with straight pointed collar, is this okay? Or is a button down collared shirt preferable? Great idea to wear with crew neck sweater! Thanks for the info!
Brian, great video. I think I've seen maybe 2 people wear an ascot IRL about 30 yrs ago. All looks were fantastic on you but definitely out of my comfort zone. I think your Drakes scarf or similar does the trick much better for me than the ascot. The one exception was the ascot and crew neck sweater which was not only my fav but also seemed the least fussy. Looking forward to trying that look.

Interesting video I stumbled upon. The ascot in the video is subtle "not to busy". Matches the jacket "menza-menz" and creates a nice contrast with the white shirt. Classic looking... Dark jacket, white shirt and dark ascot. Layers well and does not draw too much attention to any one piece. Tough to get blacks to match well though.🍸
Thank you so much.
