20 Minute Gentle Hatha Yoga Stretch
Ойын-сауық
This week's yoga video is a gentle hatha yoga class. There is no flowy vinyasa movement, so if you're looking to work up a sweat, this is not the video to choose. Rather, this is for someone who is looking for a total body stretch in a way that is gentle, relaxing, yet rejuvenating. You'll stretch the arms, chest, shoulders and hips. Hope you enjoy.

I would like you to know that your videos are changing my life. I have a serious anxiety disorder that has left me housebound and isolated. I want you to know that because of your videos, that I have now been doing for the a few weeks, I am so much more relaxed, happier and my anxiety is slowly melting away. You are single handedly saving my life. Thank you so much.

+Naomi Gunn Oh my goodness, Naomi, what a beautiful message to start my week off with. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for letting me know. I am honored to be a part of your practice. I, too, dealt with major anxiety following the deaths of three family members right in a row. I had horrible social anxiety and couldn't leave the house for some time. Yoga was tremendously helpful, as was meditation. Years later, I am totally better, so I want you to know there is hope. Sending you so much love and strength as you work through this.

Thank you. and it truly helps to know that there are people who have come through the other side of this condition. thank you again.
Loved the breathing into the right arm and out through the left! And loved, "If you can, great! If not, who cares." So what I needed today, thank you. Namaste!
Thank you. Great start to a new day recovering from Corona
Thank you Candace!! I did Hatha yoga in the 70s in college in southern Calif and have been unable to find the kind of yoga I practiced until I found you. THANK YOU ANGEL.

This is exactly what I needed after a long yoga hiatus. You have such a soothing voice, and I loved the simple and gentle poses to bring consciousness to the body and appreciate the practice. Perfect ice-breaker to get me back into my favorite exercise! Thanks again and Namaste!
Up from 0500hrs, late return home to four kids, daddy night care, used this newly posted routine to wind down and now ready for bed. Early shift tomorrow? No problem!! Thanks YBC

Loved this! Had a hamstring injury and I have been trying so many. Thank you!!!
This was so centering and calming. Thank you so much, Candace, Namasté!
Thanks for the practice. Your giggling made me smile :)
As a total beginner, I love your videos!
Your channel is one of my ultimate channels, as a fellow yoga instructor. Your voice is genuine and calming. You give great cueing for new individuals and great reminders for those of us further into our practice. Sending love.
loved this! I usually just focus on vinyasa flows because I love the movement and working up a sweat but this is perfect to balance that out. I realize I love hatha yoga just as much. This flow was super calming and felt amazing not only to my body but also my mind. Taking the time to do this flow reminded me this is what yoga is truly about, finding that inner peace.
I really appreciate that Candace has yoga programs at all levels. This was what I needed on a stressful day.

I'm 8 months postpartum and am just getting back into exercise (other than walking), this was a lovely stretch that didn't put any pressure on my wrists which most yoga routines do at some point. Who knew that so many women have wrist pain after pregnancy?! I will keep using your videos to help get back into shape, thanks!
Thank you Candace. This was very relaxing.

Hey Candace, I've been doing yoga for a while now, but I really feel like your videos added something to my practice. Whenever I'm too "lazy" to make up a yoga flow myself or I know my mind is very busy, I just do one of your videos and I love it. Yoga gives me so much, and your videos are a big part of that, so thank you! And your snapchat story is always very funny too, you seem like a great person :)

I haven't done yoga in a while and this is my first time trying again, I'm not gonna lie, I was really frustrated that my body ended up this out of shape. I could barely do anything, I couldn't even breathe right, when I used to do all sorts of stretches and everything was so easy for me. My back and shoulders are super out of it. Hopefully if I keep practicing I can get back on track.

+Beate Bohman Sonerud Great question. I'm so sorry to hear you're dealing with chronic fatigue. I hope I'm not overstepping boundaries by offering unsolicited advice but you may want to look into the GAPS book by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride. She talks about how chronic fatigue is related to gut health and how if you're able to heal the gut through the short term diet she discusses, you may be able to cure it. But anyway! Yes, here are some other good ones: yogabycandace.com/blog/2014/4/2/30-minute-restorative-yoga-and-meditation-video and yogabycandace.com/blog/full-restorative-free-yoga-class and yogabycandace.com/blog/free-yin-yoga-video

+Yoga by Candace Thanks so much for the advice re the GAPS book! I am super interested in nutrition and have noticed I don't do well with coffee, alcohol or sugar since becoming ill so have been trying to cut those out but have been too overwhelmed with adjusting to this illness to fully embark on a new diet.. But maybe now is the time! :) Will check out the book. Thanks for the recommendations for the classes as well! Also - saw your awesome video for the yoga retreat on instagram today. Doing a yoga retreat was my dream travel for last year but looks like that will be on hold for a while.. So hopefully you still do them when I'm better because they look fabulous! Hope you have a great time.
I loved the breathing and energy transfer in the beginning of practice. It really set me up for full body relaxation right away. It's always a pleasure virtually practicing with you, I can't wait to make it to a class or retreat someday!

Awesome practice! Great way to stretch before exercise-biking it up. That wide-legged seated posture at the beginning...not even close to happening for me. Best I could do was a sort of V shape with my knees slightly bent, lol. The opening meditation was so nice--really helped me stay in the proper mindset!
I just wanted to say I really appreciate your videos. I'm trying to get back into shape and increase my flexibility again and your voice is very confident and strong, but also very relaxed and comforting. Keep doing what you're doing, please. I think you're helping a lot of people. :)

Hi Candace! I have been uncontrollably sad since the beginning of the year. Idk why. Saw a therapist 4x and she just suggests an anti-depressant at the end of each session. I've decided to take matters into my own hands and get a "well being" routine going. I am taking baby steps but I've started with a set sleep and waking schedule and one of your videos a day. I'm 6 days deep and I've found these little things helpful. So, thank you.

I'm so glad that these videos have been helpful to you. As someone who has struggled with deep depression, my heart really goes out to you. I wish you all the best. Only you can decide what works best for you. I personally used antidepressants for a while, and then when life slowed down, I was able to tackle it through a more holistic approach (a good resource is Gut and Psychology Syndrome by Natascha Cambell McBride. She talks about the gut-brain connection and it's fascinating.). Wishing you the best. xo

It's so interesting to see that someone like you, so successful and pulled-together and content now, has gone through deep depression. I have struggled with mental illness and addiction my whole life until about a year ago and finally feel like I can earnestly tell people that it can get better, it even did for me. I am feeling strong and breathing in to whatever life throws at me. In another nod to yoga, humans are feeling trapped by not using the gifts of mobility and balance, which leads to mental ills. Doing a daily yoga practice helps to keep you and your body happy :). Thank you so much for all you do Candace!

Thank you for this lovely sequence! I absolutely love hatha yoga but eveytime I practise hatha yoga there is an upper back pain coming out of nowhere making the practise quite hard. Somehow I don't have the problem for same positions with vinyasa yoga. Do you know where this could come from? Is it a lack of strength? I would really appreciate it if somehow you find the time to answer :-)
@yogabycandace
6 жыл бұрын
Hi Annalena, it *might* be from lack of strength. Sometimes when we slow it down, like with hatha yoga, bad habits we've developed from going super fast (vinyasa) sometimes rear their ugly heads. What I would do is pay attention to every single movement leading up to the back pain to try to pinpoint where it's coming from. Once you figure out what the pose is that's causing it (or the movement that's causing it), you may perhaps be able to identify the weakness or bad habit you've developed. Hope that helps!
Appreciated the quiet corpse pose, there are too many practices where the teacher talks through most of it.
Perfect for before bed. I find it so hard to lie still for so long lol
