    Thanks for the information. I shall purchase one of these. I have a linkMicro digital scope, and I too have a ring led above it, as the stalks that come with it are useless. One of my grips has always been the lack of lighting under the part. I hope to upgrade to the tri-scope one day soon.

  • @WatchWithMike

    @WatchWithMike

    Awesome! My digital scope had a built-in light near the lens, plus 2 lights on stalks. I always thought it was 'OK' but never stellar. A cool thing about these little lights is that you can put it on a stand and it provides diffuse top or side light as needed, too.

  • @artistkirills

    Hi, Mike! This light is simply great, considering the fact it has adjustable light temperature. I paid attention to it when you were using it in your video about the newly purchased clock. A couple of month ago I realized that I couldn't properly inspect jewels for faults and cleanliness after rinsing and bought a $2 flat flashlight powered by 2 AAA batteries. Back then I didn't have a microscope and the light was far too intense for the eyes (even though it has two grades of intensity). I put it into a self-made plastic container with matte polished surfaces to reduce brightness. It made it suitable for using with a 10x watch loupe. Things got much better. And after I had purchased a microscope, the whole new macro-world of jewels and capillary effects turned into a stunning discovery, which fascinates me day by day. Rinsing the jewels has become much more efficient and effective, which yields better results in the amplitude etc. I am using the same flashlight for the microscope. There is only one disadvantage, namely flickering which is invisible to the naked eye but is registered by the microscope sensor when I am filming the process. The strobe effect is noticeable at some modes, not permanently. Having a backlight for watchmaking is vital. Thanks for sharing your experience! Another great video of yours gets n+1 likes😊

    Awesome, I'm glad you liked it! I struggle with scan lines when I shoot video in my shop under the mix of fluorescent, incandescent and LED light. It is fixed by setting the camera to 60 fps (or 50 in some countries). On my iPhone, I have to use an app to let me set the shutter speed - I wonder if that would help your strobe effect? I like the diffuse lighting on this little LED. On some shots, you can see just the beginning of lens flare, but it is never unusable. If the light source is pin-point, I get all kinds of lens flare. And I agree, the macro world is absolutely fascinating! There's always something new to explore! 😁

    @@WatchWithMike Yes I agree. If one wants to learn a job and watchmaking is an established job at the camber of crafts one needs at least the proper tooling. Why don't finde a master watchmaker and learn the craft from the beginning? Takes 3 years to be a learned crafts man and then you need 5 years of experience after which you can begin you journey to become a master. At the test to earn your masters degree you make your own watch from scratch. At thar point you are capable to make and sell your own brand and have the name and qualification to charge price in the order to your degree. I'm talking Richerd Mills ect kind of prices. Emagenqkung your own gilded watch. What a dream. A mecanic couldn't ever reach that point. Watchmaker like gold smith or black smith, those are only a fue of the real gilded crafts that are noble enoth to become truly unapproachable.

  • @WatchWithMike

    @WatchWithMike

    3 ай бұрын

    Hi Aaron, yes the back of this light has a magnet and it's good that people know. I'm not too concerned, as the only time I've seen its effect is on small screws, which I don't really have a need for putting on the light. But I suppose a good demagnetization is best practice after assembly. Thanks for adding that info to the conversation!

  • @trackyourcar

    Great recommendation, Mike! Thanks. Any concerns about the magnet on the back when working with watch parts??

  • @WatchWithMike

    @WatchWithMike

    3 ай бұрын

    Yes I had some concerns, but I don't think it is a big issue. The back of the light has a magnet, but there is little effect on the front of the light. I've been using it for bridges and heavier parts with no problem - the parts slide freely around the light surface. In fact, I think my tweezers are more magnetic than the front of the light. There is a slight magnetic field, which I was able to see evidence of when I got a small crown wheel to stand on edge - but I think the wheel was already magnetized. I'll keep an eye out now that you've mentioned it, but I think it's nothing to worry about.
