**2 Great English Melodeon Tunes**
Музыка
Two English tunes known from and made popular by one of the greatest English morris sides - the Britannia Coconut Dancers, Here are two of the tunes Tip Top Hornpipe and Tip Top Polka, played in a lively style on Castagnari DG Melodeons by me and my mate Jimbo.... enjoy!

I would honestly say that Spongebob helped increase the Tip Top Polka's popularity, as it is played quite often in the show. Along with the Rake Hornpipe.
bravo, bravo from a downtown coffee shop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin... melodeons rock.
Now I understand why Sponge Bob is always positive and helpful.
I was wrong about the ukulele... THIS is the happiest musical instrument! :D

Unless the coins in your hat that passers-by give you for playing it are your only income after losing your legs to frostbite on a doomed whaling voyage to the bering sea.
Ya great players lads xx

Yeah!, Bonkersly good melodeon playing!. Absolutely love it! Just bought a Scarlatti Nero DG instrument, cheap and cheerful and learning to play. Derek and Jimbo are my inspiration!

Gents - pure class - I am a beginner on the D/G box- after 15 years on the B system chromatic 5 row . A different world altogether but love the solidness of your tunes and the way you play them -art with the ponciness but art all the same All the best Nigel
This is great! More people should have viewed this video for sure. I play one similar to this! Great job! Hector
That laugh at the beginning is a bit like Mona Lisas smile. What was going i keep asking myself.

We played together last night in the Diatonics Ceilidh Band, if you are in UK , we will be At Sidmouth Folkweek from end July and Towersey festival at end of August , thx for you kind comments.
Before I all but abandoned English music, I used to play these tunes myself. The first one is what The Nutters use when they don't dance to the Stacksteads brass band, as they do on Easter Saturday, but use the concertina. I don't know the title of the first one, but the second one, according to the sheet music is simply entitled "Tip Tap Toe."
Great, feel-good tunes! I regularly return to this video. (It helps that this is the first thing that pops up for "melodeon", but I'd seek it out nonetheless.)
Found this by accident as I was looking for the Nutters' site - now I realise why DTN! See you! Chri's
great playing guys kind regards andrew box player bury manchester
@auster5d cheers gary .. keep @ the pokerwork :-)
Thx TJ .. will see what i can find ... i only play by ear so will need to see if they are written down anywhere... I can guarantee the rhythm and number of notes has changed a bit! :-)
sounds Swiss!
Thanks Hector , Will put another one up soon too!
2 x Castagnari DONY DG Melodeons :-)
Thanks Miki .. I appreciate your kind comment. Derek
would love to show you lads how the Irish play the Accordion :D
Nutty, but nice!
@DerekTheNutter great playing mate! for getting started on the melodeon, would you recommend going for a one-row or two-row? I'm a mandolinist, and all of those buttons intimidate me a bit :/ so do you think the benefit of a two-row being more versatile is outweighed by it's difficulty to learn compared to a one-row?
Thanks, guys. That is really inspirational! Could you point me to the ABC or dots for Tip Top Hornpipe? The result I get off the web is completely different from the great tune that you are playing.
Hi, I'm glad to see It's not just me that plays with the thumb at the rear of the keyboard, instead of on the edge. Is that recommended, or just how you prefer it? Lovely sound by the way.
~ACCORDION ADVICE NEEDED~ I play diatonic & want to buy a new quality box but I need some pro advice. I play a 3-Row G-C-F, which I love but its time to branch out! If someone can recommend a website to visit or give some advice on these tunings; I want to know which tuning system is best for me, with consideration that I'm switching from the G-C-F tuning which I'm very comfortable with by now. Any advice would be much appreciated. There aren't many accordions in New England!
DerekTheNutter, Where would you recommend purchasing a not-too-expensive melodeon for a beginner?
@krazykai100 Straight DG ..no accidentals!
Maybe even tomorrow.
Yes, *not* to knock this video in any way whatsoever! This is normal English style playing, how I play along with many others, and what beginners aspire to. Energetic, rhythmic dance music :-)
How long did it take to practise that song ???
Really great, and nice accordions, model Castagnari Benny ?
Gents-further to last comment -meant to say art WITHOUT the ponciness of course .
Pity you can't spot the tune for the ornamentation..... Too many notes chaps.
