1st Mini Yacht Overnighter w/ Family of 4 - With Problems

The first overnighter in the C Dory 22 mini yacht was..... revealing. The boat did wonderfully but the motors, I'm not 100% confident in at this point. Especially not to do 100+ mile trips with some cruising in blue water. After this, it's time to try to find a new motor so the adventures can continue!

Hey Trip! Good to see you and the family out there! Yesterday my mother, daughter, granddaughter and I got out there on Canadice lake and kayaked for over 5 hours. Granddaughter Maggie is 2 years and 3 months old and she was excited to get in the boats! She cried when she thought we weren't getting in the water. She did so well. We stopped a few times to let her run around and play in the water and have picnic lunch. We found like 3 Geocaches this time. There are over 50 Geocaches around this lake and I have found 19 so far. Bonus we did not fall in the water. We did not lose any phones or GoPro cameras in the water this time! Whoop Whoop!!!

Chronic awareness yes we were beat. My mother and I are both disabled. We can't walk far but we CAN sit in a kayak and paddle! I wish I could share pictures. My mother is 74 and we only started 3 years ago. My daughter got pregnant that first year and Maggie has gone with us for two years now. We are lucky she loves it too. I am so sore today but I will be good for next weekend.

Great to see you get to involve the family, its hilarious to see you adjusting to all the extra coordinating it takes to include them. Don't feel too cramped, Trip, more practice and a couple more years and your 2 brave boys will be hogging all the fun (chores ) for themselves. You wont be able to imagine going without them. It was great to see your source of joy. Thanks for getting through that one with all the grace and composure you always have on Adventures. You are a great role model, Trip. Thank you. Cute little video if you ask me

Brand new motors can have issues too... You can't trouble shoot or fix new motors with anything but a laptop, throw your onboard tool kit away. Love the new old boat, keep the content coming.

Love the videos! I’m trying to fix up a C Dory, too. Loved seeing the family aboard. Why did you ditch the $3,000+ two burner Wallas stove for the single burner Coleman? The Wallas vents CO outside the boat and can serve as a heater for cold panhandle weather. I got a two burner marine alcohol stove, so I don’t have a Wallas either, just wondering about the choice. I’m having fuel line issues with a Suzuki 80, and wish I had a second motor, so don’t be TOO quick to switch to a single! I’m learning a lot from your videos, so thanks, and keep em coming. Love your family! I’m south of you in Crystal River.

Hey cool! Saving weight, I don't cook inside much, less sophisticated system, less to fail, I don't need a heater. Glad you are enjoying the videos, how your Dory comes along nicely! Down in Crystal River you don't need the Wallas either. Cooking in the cabin just heats up the inside ;)

Great video, Trip. Having the family on board during the trip was pretty nice. I'm curious, what are sizes of the outboards mounted on the boat? Do you have the two motors for more power or piece of mind in case you lose one motor while out, you have the second one to get back to shore or the ramp?

Spray a little marvel mystery oil in each engine cylinder. Clean all you engine wire ends, the coat them with marine protective electrical spray. Work the boat. Make sure you have good batteries and battery wires. Perfect boat for these kids. When they bigger, daddy will have to trade up to a bigger boat. Look at Parkers.
