1999 Crane Carrier Company Integrated Rear Loader (CCC IRL)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's been a long time coming for this video. For several years I've known that White's Sanitation owns 3 of these beasts, and I've been wanting to make my way out to this beautiful part of Utah to see them for quite some time. A few months back I had to be in Colorado, and on my way I passed by their routes and I was extremely happy to find they still ran these! A good chunk of the route was still full, however to my disappointment, the truck was parked and nobody was around. I got a couple pictures of it and headed to nearby towns to see what else was to be found (stay tuned for that). After filming for a little over an hour just up the road in the nearby town, I came back to check on the IRL only to find it gone and the rest of the towns route finished.
Fast forward to this week, Alex and I were talking and the idea of making a trip out here was brought up and went from "I'd like to go to Utah" to "Lets go to Utah" pretty quickly, and so we did just that. Luck being on our side, very shortly after getting to the town in which I knew an IRL ran in, the truck comes around the bend in the highway way up ahead of us to get the first stop in town. The crew were extremely friendly and made a fun experience that much better, so a huge thanks goes out to them.
I also did something a little different with this video. Usually I choose my favorite clips and make a nice little video of just the better clips, but this time I decided not to. With this truck I just went ahead and added every single clip I took into this video since I knew many of you would love to see much more than a 10 minute video. Also made sure to get a good few driving shots to show off how mean this thing looks rollin' down the road!
Anyway, enjoy what is probably my favorite rear load video I've made thus far, and arguably one of the coolest trucks I've ever had the privilege to share with you.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Round bodied trucks have always been a favorite of mine simply because of how different they are, and typically they look really nice, and this one was no exception to that.

From what I hear, they absolutely are packing beasts. There's a video on here uploaded by ThaThunderStorm I believe of one unloading greenwaste. Its pretty impressive how much material it dropped from just one load. Im glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching

This brings back soooo many good memories! We (the City of Savannah) had a few of these in our fleet, and man they sounded like this. A few were sold off to another waste company called Savannah Waste, and some were disposed of either scrapped or sold to someone. I remember the last one I saw working for us was when our recycling program kicked off a few years ago (IIRC, 2010). Not sure of the year, but probably '97-'02. Great video!

Glad to have been able to bring back some memories for ya. How did these compare to other trucks in terms of loads/user friendliness? Would love to hear anything to be said about these from those who worked on/around them. Thanks for the comment

@@3amrepmike3 I had to come back to this video, I was feeling nostalgic lol! I guess the crews liked them. Those trucks could pack a decent load and were pretty reliable for the 8-10 years we had them. That was back when our streets were flood with Heils, Leach 2RIIs, and older King Cobras. Now we have just New Way King Cobras and from what I've seen, the crews like them. They also seem to pack a lot and are reliable.

Amazing!!!! I know this company was mentioned on Facebook a while back. So glad someone went out there to document this amazing truck. Way better than the one I filmed. Now I'm more convinced to move to Utah. Lol. Makes me wonder what other trucks Utah is hiding from us....

Between what Kevin has found in St. George and this, I'm very impressed at what that state has. These Integrated Crane Carrier trucks are some of the coolest pieces of equipment out there. They looks so odd haha I honestly didn't think they were still making the "I" series trucks in 99, thought they were discontinued long before that. Such a great sounding truck too, definitely not a huge RL fan but the sound alone kept me entertained throughout. Terrific shot at 9:36, the circular body made that even cooler lol Amazing find!

There are plenty of goodies to be found in Utah still, one of my favorites is still yet to be posted anywhere, but I'll probably upload a video of it in the coming weeks. Yeah the Integrated series from CCC were actually made until quite recently actually. Shame they were discontinued though. They're easily some of my favorite trucks out there. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment.

Holy shit Mike. I don't know anyone else on KZread who satisfies my joy of coming home on a Friday to watch such an exclusive find as this. I am never unimpressed with your excellent sightings and knowledge of classic trucks that would otherwise go unnoticed if you weren't around. And the fact that you ACTUALLY make it out to these places just for the hell of it to document these for our pleasure makes me appreciate your effort that much more. At first glance you would think this truck wouldn't have any special sound but thanks for proving me wrong in the first clip ;) Noticed that little hydraulic whistle @ 0:15 that a lot of older Xpeditors tend to make. Never seen it on a CCC. If you wouldn't mind educating me a little history, I am curious why we don't see more of these trucks and why CCC's integrated idea never became too popular. Too much competition? Its been quite awhile since KZread has seen such high quality footage of these "tubular" rear loaders and it was a real treat to watch this classical truck still at work. If you don't mind me asking, where exactly was this filmed? Not to mention it sure is interesting to see what these land locked states offer in terms of refuse equipment. Fantastic shots and watched this all the way through. Also, I am curious about any other odd balls you know of out there, and if you could just name a few that would be great. Hopefully these gems won't all be gone when I take my road trip in a year or two.

  • @3amrepmike3

Thanks for the kind words man, always nice to know how much my efforts are appreciated. You know, I actually think these were more popular than we initially believe. But I think they have gone under the radar since they're such oddball trucks, that people just moved away from them after a while. Then the biggest tihng in my mind would be when they stopped making them, I imagine many people sold them off knowing that parts would be harder to come by etc. This was filmed in Gunnison Utah. If you go to the companies website it lists their route schedule. Off hand I couldn't really think of other oddball/noteworthy trucks. You'd have to give me an idea of where specifically you want to go to on your trip and I could possibly point out some things around those areas.

To be perfectly honest, if you mounted a camera up there on that V-shape above the cab, you'd get a great audio-only video of exhaust sounds which I would find equally satisfying. Thanks for all the driving shots you got. However, I am not a nuisance and will not require such a thing ASAP. Truck looks and sounds like a tank, likely pretty indestructible. I can't believe how far forward the body sits (all the way up to the front of the front axle) and that the cab is completely in front of the front axle. Fucking awesome video.

Okay hot damn that growl. Then as the truck comes around the corner I can truly appreciate how beastly it looks. I wonder how many yards it holds, it looks absolutely massive. Cool tippers, another layer to an already unique truck. The whole 9:30 deal was really cool to see, I really would have liked to see circular trucks like this take off more. Loved the shot at 14:17 too, it really gives a good look at how unique looking the truck is. Perfect intro/outro shots too. All around a truly amazing video. Can't wait to see more of this truck from Alex (because he's better than you). PS can you ask Alex to go back ASAP and get a ride along? I really want to hear it slipping it into fourth. It was a very short trip, only filming 3 trucks total. Plus one truck from the first time I stopped in Utah, which may or may not be uploaded some time this month too. In regards to the Utah map, I truthfully had no idea such a thing existed and merely went off the haulers websites. Though I may find myself in Utah again some time so that would likely be of great help should I return.
