If you took Samuelsson's incredible genetic potential and abilities at this age and gave him modern training opportunities/technology, diet and knowledge he would have been an absolute monster in WSM. He looked like a pup here, but still had unreal potential.

"diet" is an interesting spelling for pharmaceuticals. He was obviously juiced (and even in 2023) but nowhere near as juiced as some. Who knows if that's by choice, or not.

Torfi got unfairly screwed. He missed an event because of exhaustion and he was exhausted because they made him repeat the whole pull because of their equipment failure, instead of just the remainder he had left as would be fair

Technique is everything in arm wrestling if you get you're body in front of you're arm the pressure on the weaker bones in the arm is incredible

It also helps that Samuelsson was one of the strongest men in the world, evident from how he owned the other events when he had never even competed in WSM before, and how he went on to win in 1998. And that rule with the slot machine carry was a joke. Samuelsson should have won it. It was so much more competitive if they picked it back up and carried on to the finish line!

The fact that Magnus’ face instantly drained and he’s actually holding back tears. As sad as this moment was I still think this is one of the most beautiful and sincere moments in strongman history. True compassion. In a lesser sport, they would’ve gloated over breaking their opponent’s arm 100%z

Pulling 4 cars with people in them with a fat marine rope like that... I remember feeling their pain. Not easy to get a grip. It looks so damn hard!

Great upload! Remember this heat like yesterday. Was looking for it for a few years prior to just finding it. Such carnage in this heat.

Everyone mentions the technique in arm wrestling, but one should not dismiss the fact that Magnus Samuelsson was also hell of a strong! Look at how he owned those other events that he had never even done before! Plus he was the lightest man there by a mile. A complete natural and I immediately became a fan of his, alongside Magnus Magnusson. It's no surprise he took out the title in 1998.

"I'm very strong... Oh oh, he won't win this easy!" Famous last words! But he was right, fair play! lol

I had my arm broken the same way Nathan Jones did, it hurts. Wasn't Magnus Samuelsson though.

Why did they bother to continue the heat with only two guys left?

Just for the fun of it plus they had to because the other guys are exhausted from the heats and it wouldn’t fair if they just left it off and have a lot more energy then the other guys.

Because it's a show 1st. and a Strength contest 2nd. Plus, they have sponsors and sponsors have rules or require stipulations to be met.
