The judges clowning with the pass on Ted's arms for the axe hold, that is NOT straight. Just compare his start to his end, he's clearly bending his elbows some

At 38 MVM was better than all the competitors with the exception of Jouko Ahola. Two things would have made the competition even closer: 1) The Conan wheel is a good event for MVM who did over 900 degrees and first place in 1996 WSM but they had issue with the equipment for both MS and MVM before they fixed it in tome for Ahola. 2) There was no power lifts where MVM will beat Jouko Ahola in the press or the squat, while it will be too close in the deadlift, but I believe Ahola would have got the deadlift. I don't think those two things would have changed the outcome but would have put MVM away from the rest of the competitors and closer to Jouko Ahola.

Yeah... as well as Ted did, that was a dubious win at best considering he should have been called for arms in the axe hold well within 30 seconds. He did great otherwise but damn do I hate when bad reffing screws up the points.

At 44:49, you can see that the stone was placed closer to the last spot for Phil. Pause the video and compare. Mariusz picked up the stone more quickly than Phil, but due to the longer distance he had to cover, he ended up losing the competition.
@danielnia835625 күн бұрын
It looks like the referee blew his whistle a fraction of a second before Phil reached the finish line at 38:42. If that's the case, it could definitely change the final results and potentially move the current winner to second place.

I love how strongman was pretty well established at this time but could still be a shambles. Several dumb mistakes by the commentator which surely could’ve been caught in editing. He kept calling Flemming “Magnusson”. Events themselves were so wonderfully dumb as well. Especially the trial bike lift. If you ever wonder why they don’t use the real life facsimiles in comps, this is why. It looks dumb, it’s not even that heavy in strongman terms (100kg overhead is a warmup weight) and the weight’s so awkward and uneven it’s just waiting for injuries to happen.

OD Wilson was tremendiusly powerful in the static type or slow lifts but lacked excessuve endurance for other events at 6,'5" and 420 pounds. RIP as he died a couple years lateopr during a radio show interview of complete heart failure. He was still in his 30s.

If you're going to host a competition called "World's Strongest Man," then it should be all about pure static strength. WSM should be called World's Best Strength Athlete not World's Strongest Man. The Strongest man is the strongest not fastest they have plenty of contests/sports for speed and endurance already. Strength should have more than just weightlifting and powerlifting.
