No. Motor has been rock solid. Thinking we may have a possible clutch going out, but it's been really great in the 15 months since we did the build. Nothing but oil changes so far.

Vdubin64 my advice is never let it go keep it those trucks will last for ever I’ve had mine for 12 years with also almost 400k with no problems on engine just usual things battery radiator etc..until some drunk 😵 moron totaled it parked outside my house I was so sad nevertheless keep your truck..cheers

I bought a 97 regular cab 4x4 2.7 manual last summer with original Cardinal Red paint that's pretty trashed. I wish I could do this with mine, I just don't have the facilities to paint. Get this though, mine has only 86k miles...........

That was a nice father/ son project. Boy will take good care of that truck now because he helped build it to what it is now.

That's a badass truck! My first truck was a 2001 red extended cab Tacoma I'd give anything for that truck. I sadly wrecked it but I drive a 2010 4 door Tacoma now.

you guys rock just awesome to see it brought back to excellent condition. I have a 1997 black Toyota Tacoma sr5 with a super charger its still looks brand new . After seeing this video really made me happy to see another awesome mini pick up come back to life right on!!! .

i've got a 2002 taco 2.7L 4 cylinder 4x4, original owner with 127,000. never thought about a full rebuild, but something to think about. cool rebuild in the video.

when you orderd the wheels off amazon did they come with the lockable hub caps or did you have to do anything else?

I purchased the wheels from Les Schwab, but the link on Amazon are the same wheels for a better price. I did use keyed lug nuts, but I don't think you can get the hub cap off of these. Not easily at least or without tools.

Really did a great job. is there a gloss on the red paint or is it flat. looks like there's a bit of shine but not sure. About choice can there be a gloss that can be applied also or just flat . Jim

No rubbing at all. I got all of the lift components from Toytec online. The lift kit was Old Man Emu 3" Lift Kit with 883 Springs and Diff Drop Kit (OME-9504TAC-883-DR) toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/Old-Man-Emu-Tacoma-suspension_p_225.html I also added: 1. 7.5" U bolts 2. Rear upper shackle bushing kit 3. Leaf Spring Retainer Clips 4. OME Exhaust Bracket Total price was $814 + Shipping

Thanks man. It's called Super Red, and it's a custom mix that's really easy to do by adding some extra red tint to their regular red. You can call, email or chat with them and tell them what you're doing and they'll give you a recipe to do exactly what you want. I just did my daughter's Jeep and sent them a few pics of an example Mercedes-Benz that we liked the color on. They came up with a match and recipe that was perfect!

OCbreezie 88 Thanks. No, the wheels are new and came black. Not a shiny black though. We almost dipped the stock wheels, but needed a little offset to fill the fender flares. The stock wheels would have set too far inside.

We dipped the front and rear bumper. It looks really great. We were careful to not get any on the hood since we sprayed the black after the red.

We put a 3" Old Man Emu suspension lift on there with the heavier front coils and their add-a leafs in the rear, new shocks, brake line extension and diff drop kit. Except for the old rust, the project was pretty simple.

Amazon, but they are just Bushwhacker brand pocket flares. I paid $500 for them.
