I have one. I love it. Much less floaty than my wife’s Chrysler van. After 25 years and 200,000+ miles, still going strong. Transmission is a little clunky and I suspect a few of the 140 horses have escaped the stable

Still have our 1996. Right at closing in on 300,000 miles and she starts and runs everyday like a 1 year old mini-van. Sensational vehicle.

I know a family that used to have a Isuzu Oasis, which was a rebadged version of this Odyssey, but wasn’t released until 1996. Then some time later, they traded in that Oasis for a used 2001 Odyssey.

Did the family have a 1996 model? The Oasis also continued to be sold for the 1999 model year, despite Honda releasing a brand-new Odyssey (a much more traditional "minivan" than the original Odyssey/Oasis) for that model year.

@@carexpertandy Did you know Isuzu once sold small cars in America? The Chevrolet Spectrum (later renamed Geo Spectrum) and Geo Storm were both cars sold by GM but were American-market versions of Isuzu cars sold in Japan! There also was a subcompact car called the Isuzu Stylus which surprisingly never had a Geo or Chevy twin. Geo models were Japanese cars but were sold by GM through the Chevrolet division. Isuzu and Toyota both made sports cars in the 80's which were partially designed by LOTUS, which was a British sports car company but was owned by GM from 1986 to 1993. Lotus cars in America were sold at Cadillac dealerships during that time period! Chrysler had bought Maserati (Italian company that could be compared to Lotus) around the same time as GM bought Lotus. Are you familiar with the rare "Chrysler TC by Maserati" sports coupe? That car was very expensive (the most expensive vehicle in the entire Chrysler Corporation lineup at the time!) but was honestly a lousy piece of shit, and was based on the Chrysler LeBaron coupe! Ironically, the LeBaron was the cheapest car and the LEAST luxurious car with the Chrysler name available at the time (I'm surprised the LeBaron was sold with the Chrysler name instead of Dodge, or maybe even Plymouth!) Not surprisingly, the TC by Maserati was a huge failure, partly because the LeBaron was a MUCH lower-priced car which was sold at the same dealerships! There also was a car called the Dodge Lancer in the 80's which was NOT related to the Mitsubishi Lancer, even though Chrysler partially owned Mitsubishi for a long time!

Scary moment with 1995 Honda Odyssey: I think the car was either off when or stalled after I put it into either reverse or neutral; I started to roll backwards on a slope and the brake pedal wouldn’t budge so I had to pull the emergency brake. Something like this happened to me at a gas station parking spot and I forget the specifics but I nearly rolled into a car entering the gas station.

I thought these were corny as hell when they came out. Looking back they seem like a great vehicle although it's unfortunate they were never available with stick shift. I wonder if anyone in the F&F crowd ever swapped a stick into one of these or if it was even possible. Mitsubishi had the Expo/Summit/Colt which was a bit smaller but based on the excellent DSM vehicles, Honda was obviously aiming for the market of the Caravan which makes sense but like I said, corny as hell for car guys
