SLEEPER 1995 Honda Odyssey H22 Reversed Head: Collective Effort

Hello everyone,
In this episode we meet a badass builder who took a big risk in building something that a few of us have seen only via video and pictures. Sg. Fitz is a Army veteran and a crazy builder to say the least. He decided to not only power the families car with an H22 but to reverse the head backwards like the jttc/bttc cars. At the time he had 4 H series engines which is crazy to say the least but he decided that he had enough parts to do it. Well, he did it! It ran for a while but as life got busy it went to the back burner. With the help of his friends from accordcollective and werdwerx they were able to bring this monster back to life. I hope you guys enjoy the episode like I did. I had a great time on and off camera. My salute to Sg. Fitz as a veteran and a great builder. Thank you all for the support to #automotiveanatomy

    I’ve seen a lot of videos on this channel and they are always good but for me, this one destroys the curve. This guy works with at risk youth, he is one of the early guys and he’s still all in, and he reengineered this motor hoping to match what Honda could achieve with all their resources but with even more performance. What a bad ass. Inspiring!

    Robert Lund some call it the accord type r but it’s the euro R. Sadly Honda didn’t build the euro R like a true Honda type r . The suspension wasn’t on par with a typical type r . The motor was the only thing that was high comp and big cams like all the Rs.

    This was super cool, have seen and read about this car online before but to hear from the owner the work that went into it makes it very special. If I remember correctly one of the reasons they swapped the head on the BTCC accords was to place the engine further back right? All the cars from that era of BTCC are the best looking factory race cars in my book; slammed with big wheels tucked and aggressive but not over the top aero. Getting a bit off-topic here, thanks again for a great video.

    You were spot on topic! Yes, that was the OG reason why they build the reverse head. I belive the driver sat back as well. But yes, I love those era cars. The way the rear wheels look are amazing. Especially with the single lock axle nut. I am glad this video brought education and joy to you.

The AWD Audi A4 was able to keep up in the corners but on a straight away... NOTHING!!! There are a lot of those [BTCC] races on KZread, around 1997 - 2000 are the best races, they showcase the power of the "H" in both senses of the letter; HONDA AND H22!!!

    Maybe I missed it, but what is the purpose of a reversed head? Very nice build.

  • @pearlcoupe

    @pearlcoupe

    4 жыл бұрын

    The original purpose of it was to allow for weight distribution closer to the firewall in the JTCC Accord. By also reversing the head, it allows the ITB's to face the front of the vehicle and allow for better air flow into them. In the instance of the video, it was then just because he wanted to see if he could do it.

    What is the benefit of doing a reverse head besides being different???

  • @AutomotiveAnatomy

    @AutomotiveAnatomy

    4 жыл бұрын

    The original reason was to have the driver seat further back and fit in the ITBs. For street use, none to be honest. Tommy explained that he would need to do some extensive modifications to the front end to get air on the ITBs but not much power advantage.
