My first platoon sergeant in the Army was a driver of one of the humvees in the convoy trying to get them out. He wasn't in the movie but his name is mentioned several times in the book.

I was stationed in California (USMC) when I heard about the Battle of Mogadishu. We were pissed!!!. We were ready to go!. The book (Blackhawk Down) is a MUST read. Hueys were supposed to be used in the movie, but when the Army read the script and realized it was not just another “war movie”, they supported it. That is why Blackhawks and Little Birds were used as done by SOAR. Semper Fi!

@@uwekonnigsstaddt524 There are quite a few problems with the book. The whole truth was not told and everything is from a U.S. view which took credit for a number of U.N. missisons in the Mog.

A Blackhawk would be a great addition to DCS. It's like a Huey, but useful. I was a Blackhawk mechanic for 4 and a half years, fantastic aircraft to work on and fly in.

The UH60 is out now!! It’s just a mod but you should still try it.

If you haven't already you should read about the 2 Delta Force snipers during that battle. They both were posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for their heroism and sacrifice.

The problem with the mods is everyone needs to download it for it to work, and many members don’t like installing mods because they cause problems with their PCs. But I agree an actual AH-6 would have been awesome!

Yep, He was only an interpreter however in Op Restore Hope. It's a small world I guess. They really could have done a whole second movie with all that went on

We don’t script things believe it or not...aside from the mission triggers anyway hah. I did try to add some warm and fuzzies though where I could. Glad you enjoyed it

DCS needs better ground elements. They don't need to be Steel Beast level quality, but at least so the ground vehicles don't just clip through the ground and buildings. And no sliding around as if their ping is 999.

The Cobras were from the 10th Mtn Div (Light). The main Marine ship was the USS Wasp. 26 MEU (SOC). The U.S. Carrier (Abe Lincoln) group and 26 MEU were told to go full steam AFTER 3 Oct.

My God CAP, slow down just a bit. You are in a huey not an F-16 LOL. Fun mission though. Sort of like Kill the General except supporting the ground vehicle to the green zone. 1:08:20 was perfect for an epic hollywood slow mo, but the nearly dieing 50 times after crashing his chopper had made CAP unable to keep a steady cam.

Yeh good question cuz I’d REALLY REALLY like to know as I’m lowkey looking into building one and getting back into sims, used to play the shit outta FSX and aces high now I just have aces high 3 and it’s still REALLY fun but not exactly on the same level as DCS, it’s totally adequate for what it’s intended to be but the graphics are shit I mean the flight model is totally legit but again, graphics are laughable, still SUPER FUN game though ngl, if you want to get into a combat sim then I recommend aces high 3, it doesn’t take much of a computer to run it and the online is only like 15 bucks a month. And you get almost every aircraft right off the bat, there’s only like a handful you have to rank up to fly, the B29, the Me262, the RAF Tempest, the Me163, the Mosquito bomber variant, you can fly the fighter/ground attack right from the start just not the bomber version, and there MIGHT be one or two more I’m forgetting like there’s a German jet engine bomber like an Ar 220 or something close I can’t remember but there’s literally SOOO many other aircraft to fly from the start. It’s basically open world too I mean you can hop in a fighter and go do some dogfighting and point defense on one of your teams bases under attack or bomber intercepts, same with carrier groups you can go do some nautical shit and fly from carriers and defend/attack from sea, or my favorite, go do some strategic bombing on enemy bases or their important supporting industrial sites like their ammo factory or head quarters or fuel refinery or troop training and some other cool strategic stuff, don’t know why I just plugged aces high III so hard but there you go lol it’s a fun game!!! My in game ID is ChkYgr and you can find me in the open maylee arena. There’s also a Great War arena with four ww1 fighters and it’s pretty fun to play in just not many people in it at any given moment..

One aircraft would have sorted this little lot out. AC 130 gunship. The locals would have all stayed at home that day. Shame Clinton bottled it and wouldn't let them deploy...

Normally a big fan but this video was frustrating to watch. just a bunch of shots of vehicles driving/flying. The clips of the choppers engaging ground targets almost never showed the targets, just the guy shooting the gun. When they did show what they were shooting at it was only for a second, not enough time to identify the target or determine if any damage was inflicted. Bailed around 54:00, maybe it got better after that. Sorry for any negative vibes, just well meaning constructive criticism. I admit I did skip around a little, may have missed something. Probably was a fun mission to be a part of, just didn't make for all that good a video. And Merry Christmas everyone.

You guys need to really outline and learn what happened from Bowden's book and from Chief Durrant's account..Mogadishu was more Middle eastern and North African...EVERYONE in the damn city who could carry a weapon did and those streets were practically blocked off. Plus it didnt happen in one day but two..

Yes, but we have 2 hours to brief and fly the mission, so we condense stuff to fit a time we can all get together and fly. We are also limited by the DCS engine, and server with how many units we can add. Blocking every road would crash the game. - [GR] Starscream

DCS does not have a Blackhawk module. We have to use what is available. This is true with almost all of our missions.
