This is footage from the complete portion of the CART Road America race from October 4, 1986 that was postponed from its original date in September due to heavy rain. To my knowledge, ESPN televised the initial portion of the race, but did not return for the resumed date. if anyone can fill in the blanks here, please do so in the comments.

    thanks for uploading this! The only 1986 CART Road America race footage existed before this one was a spanish version of highlights.

    Not to be specific, but this race is labeled as 1986 Race For Life 200.

    What made it to where there’s no video footage? Is it because the restarted race never aired on tv?

    Pretty much. ESPN signs contracts for certain races each weekend, and if your race gets cancelled, they can't stick around, they need to go to their next obligation, which was likely a nascar race. At least it looks like they left a few cameras behind to capture video. Interestingly, this was the second time CART missed a TV broadcast at Elkhart Lake in 4 years. I think it downpoured on 3 of the first 5 races they did there.
