The great days of PBA bowling - no blue oil - no two handed crap - no constant noise from fans (they behaved) - real trophies (no plastic crap of today) - no rap music between shots - no coaching behind each shot - consistent TV shows - consistent bowling balls (not 25 new ones every day like today that don't last) - consistent tournament formats - and good announcers, not Rob Stone who sounds more like a wrestling announcer - annoying to say the least. It was a pleasure to bowl in this era.

When it had class and dignity. I don't know what the hell this shit is these days. Bamboozled with stats and graphs that are designed to make it look more technical than it is, gimmicks aplenty with flashing lights everywhere. Dumb crowds, even dumber announcers *hAmBoOoNe* *pAbSt sIx PaCk!1!1* urgh. Looks more like a cross between Darts and Poker these days.

Douglas,,before you shoot your mouth off, know the facts. Our team at Erie Community College consisted of Bruce Minger, Tony Saccomanno ,Jim Duerr (me) , Tom Bogdan and Dan Eberl. Doug Farrell ( alternate) We carried 6 players. Coached by Kerm Helmer and assistant coach Ken Duke. Our team was ranked #1 in the country heading to the National Collegiate championships in 1978 sponsored by Pabst. Top 12 mens teams and top 12 women's teams were invited to the National tournament in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Hopefully, this opens your eyes. By the way, Dan and I were roommates at this tournament !!! Have a great day!

@@20alphabet As I watched this match closely, it appeared Jim's foot work rhythm was choppy at times. The conditions were brutal. When one is not comfortable playing a certain trajectory, or if he/she feels that there isn't much area out there, that can happen.

He lives in my neighborhood. He bowled for a year or so, then he retired and settled down. He still bowls locally, and even made it to Reno in the 2000s, but he hasn't made another TV debut since. Nice dude.

Resin bowling balls remind me of using a bat t o take a fly off somebody's forehead it makes the game look silly way too much power and you can't add another row of pins

I love when Burton misses the 10 pin. He was always ragging on nowhere when they missed East spares. Very critical all the time of Bowlers! He’s a pompous Ass!! Durbin blew him away as a Commentator!! He’s a very nice man & a very likable fella!! How’s it feel Burton to get Spanked & owned on your Show?? 😂😂😂😂😂 oh a footnote , my friend Richie whose the Greatest Action Bowler of All time once in the late 60’s challenged Burton, Jim Godman & Don Johnson to a $10,000 winner take all match each of them individually & they ALL punked out!! This is right after Godman win the ‘69 Firestone!! Punks!! NOBODY MESSED WITH THE HORN!!
