Yep. He's what I call the ultimate success. He does his favorite passion & hobby for a living! So this guy doesn't "work" for a living like the rest of us. I grew up in the 80's and absolutely adore the 308 and 328 shape. In my eyes they're so perfectly proportioned. Thanks to Jay for featuring Donnie. He is nothing but passion and it was a joy to watch him share his stories. A bit surprised to see so much disapproval in the comments. The only difference between Donnie and other guests is he seems more confident is all. Maybe that got mistaken for arrogance but I didn't see it that way at all. Just two legends bouncing stories off each other. Oh and white is such a perfect colour for Ferrari's.

Did 128,000 miles in mine without a single breakdown. Thrashed it every inch of the way too. 308 QV's are the most reliable mid-engined Italian sports car made in my opinion. Got 2 other friends with 100k + miles 308's too, one is a 78 carb car, again both cars are trouble free. The ones that sit around in garages are the ones with problems. 308's were meant to be used and driven hard, the harder the better. Cheaper parts than most modern everyday cars, easy on fuel and cheap to insure as a classic. I also did 112,000 miles totally trouble free in a 550 Maranello, again rev limited it virtually every time I drove it. Another well built car.

I'm sure someone already called this out, but is that a big DENT in the drivers side door? You can see it at 24:17. It was clean when they left J's shop. That either happened while they were driving, or the retouch artist didn't get the later shots.

@@chefmike4414 especially if it wasn't their fault and could've easily happened to you if you'd been driving but it didn't, they hurt the car and you blame yourself for letting them borrow it and them for the damage even though you know they weren't really at fault. Best just get over it, give them a bit of a hard time, have a good laugh at their expense as you start fixing it at yours.

This was HIS car that he wanted when young and broke. It will never be a big dollar Ferrari simply because it's white and has crash bumpers. But it is HIS. And he wants it exactly as it came from the factory in appearance. I'm that way about my Porsches (and have been for 46 years). I applaud him for his diligence towards originality. Yeah, he make like embellish things a bit. Give the guy some slack.

Someone who thinks every single detail they reveal is somehow more unique or intriguing than some ancient artifact. A guy who knows just enough about cars to be able to Bamboozle the less knowledgeable and does so regularly. I know I would not be able to get through a litany of mundane or semi significant details like this, without getting short (or worse sarcastic) with the person. Hey, at least I am working on identifying my flaws and trying to be more understanding. Mr Leno is a Smooth Operator.

These videos are just so awesome. I just watched the 35l Pantera just like I had when I was a kid. Now this ,84 308 . I had a yellow one back in the late 80,s. Jay is right about 100,000 being just a shitload of miles for a Ferrari. After 15,000 you have to have them completely rebuilt with new timing components or run the chance of them blowing up going down the road. I had that done twice before I sold it and got the Red 88 Testerosa. Man I loved that car for sure. Even thou I'm 6.3 and size 15 shoe. Wich is just hard as Hell not to hit all three pedals at once. Now I drive a Ford F150. Oh well. Still have the memories. My old back can't handle them sport cars any more. I do like the Imperial convertible that Jay has.

While I have a predisposition towards the Teutonic machines from Stuttgart, I love all motorized vehicles. I drove my first Ferrari thanks to my late neighbor who offered me the keys to his 288 Ferrari GTO as a birthday offering for the a day. I was in awe of the car from the day I saw it as a competitor to the venerable Porsche 959. It was an absolute blast driving it through the beautiful Maryland country roads - and yes, you had better be pointing the wheels forward when you engage the turbos at full throttle!. An unforgettable experience. The same was true for the experience behind the wheel of his beautiful, albeit more docile BB512 (my all time favorite). A stunningly beautiful car that drove like a thoroughbred 12 cylinder Ferrari. I would have bought that car and kept it forever had it not been for a lack of liquidity and marital commitment. (-:

Why are people so mad and full of hate. Life is a long game and so many different outcomes. Some people become rich. Some do what their passion is. Everyone makes mistakes. I mean even if you make good money not everyone has 25k just sitting around to take out of the bank. maybe the guy makes good money but doesn’t rape people to fix their cars because he isn’t just a mechanic and has a passion for Ferrari’s so he gets it. You all just don’t know. So stop hating on the man. Damn grow up.

James Shunt yeah I understand. I wish o had the money to be a proper enthusiast. Own and drive exotics. But I think they are cool. It’s like art to me. The time and the mechanics that went into them at the time. Also the sounds and the lesser restrictions making the styles so different than anything we know today. The exotics of yesterday weren’t just about going 200plus miles per hour. But it was the leatherwork inside, the gated shifters, the funky way everything was put together. All of it.

I was in Montreal in the summer building airplanes for Canadair. One day I was over at the video store getting into my car. Of course I notice the 308 sitting there - who wouldn't.. I was sitting in my car just looking at the damned thing thinking how beautiful it is when the guy ambles over to it, a big fellow. I give him the thumb up for having the F-Car for heavens sake. And with somewhat of a grimace cracks the door and shoehorns himself into it. Then I hear the starter crank over and over and over stop. Then over and over and BLAP BRATT A BRATT BRAWWLLLL the dual coils finally agree to work like family in the Italian fashion, but only after dark clouds of grey smoke come out of the pipes. I will never forget it. Just like the time a silver Daytona came gliding past me in Colorado Springs when I was a cadet at the Air Force Academy. that's another story.
