As a leftie, it did my heart good to see two lefthanded bowlers in the final 5. The conditions were good and bad at the same time depending on the ball speed of each shot. Thanks for posting this tournament.

Loved that place...when video games first came out we would walk to Celebrity from a few miles away and pump quarters into all the machines...then swim and then bowl....SOooooooo many great memories!

I know -- my first urethane ball. Still have it (lol). I did upgrade to a Purple Angle in 1987, though. There was a lot of great equipment back then before the dawn of reactive resin. I really liked the Purple Angle: It hooked like a U-Dot and hit like a Hammer! Good times.

I enjoyed the "wine" colored U-dot, but had more success with the "Hammer" line of balls in the mid-80's. I liked the black hammer o.k., but found it hooked too much for me. Found much more success with the blue pearl hammer....I remember buying several of them and having different drilling layouts on them. Good times. I've found that I liked bowling in the 80's better than now....despite scoring higher and having balls that hook a ton or do whatever you want (with all of the weight blocks, RG, surfaces, PIN location).

21:57 Chris Schenkel is right...takes a man to announce something like that to the world. PDW always said that shit straight out. Never made excuses or blamed anyone. Just manned up, did what he had to do, and didn't mind telling his story. 👏👏

I still have GE Perma Lane in my center...we were the 2nd installation in western New York in 1979. Shot back to back 300's on that surface in 2011.

I loved the fact they had 80 lanes! 40 on one side of bldg, 40 along another side...one could pick the lanes they wanted. Its sad to know theres Home Depot parking lot in its place! Someone unfirtunately made lots of $$$$$$$$ off that!

Celebrity seemed to favor the lefty in its heyday. I remember one year the Denver Masters was held there and of the 16 who advanced to match play, 14 were lefty’s.

That's awesome (always wanted to see what the Blue could do). I caught a video recently where a southpaw was just smokin' it with a Gray Angle. Like my dad always delighted in telling me (and wouldn't you know he was right), "Son, oftentimes it's the driver, not the wheels." Good luck, man. Keep knocking 'em dead.
