Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I show how to remove the camshaft and crankshaft so I can check the main bearings. You can read all the details of how I do this here: brook.reams.me/bmw-motorcycle...

I completely rebuilt a 1974 R90/6 to like new condition and drove it about 1/4 mile and sheared the flywheel bolts and it completely messed up the bolt holes and seal surface ! I am now replacing the crank and this video was very useful. Thank you for sharing :) Oh yeah, Never use flywheel bolts a second time LOL

Hi rotory wankel, The early bikes, through the 1974 model year, used 10 mm bolts and those are USE ONCE. The flywheel bolts after that are 11 mm and BMW allows reuse. That said, for what can happen if they shear, I buy new 11 mm bolts whenever I remove the flywheel. It's cheap insurance. I'm sorry to hear about your bolt failure. Best of success getting your bike back on the road, and I'm glad this material is helpful. Be sure to click the link in the summary of the video that will take you to the complete documentation of the procedure. My videos are a summary of what I do BUT, they DO NOT contain all the details.

@@BrooksAirheadGarage Its really no problem for me to do this motor, Its why I became a mechanic 45 years ago. I have the 10mm bolts and your advice about ALWAYS replacing the bolts is spot on. Thanks again :)

Brooks I’m struggling to remove my bearing carrier. I just bought a blowtorch to help me heat the casing. Do you mean 275 degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit? I know you need to be careful when heating aluminium

Antique Restorations, the temperature is in Fahrenheit. I used two MAP gas torches to get enough heat to uniformly get the temperature high enough around the carrier. Be sure to click the link to my web page in introduction to the video to get all the details about how I did this work.

Hey Brooks, doesn't look like you've uploaded a video showing how to remove the main bush bearings off the carrier and engine block. I can turn my own tools but I bought the stage 3 kit from Cycleworks and I'd prefer to use it lol. Any chance you'd know how this kit is supposed to be assembled in order to remove the main bearings? I don't think mine ever came with diagrams.

Frodo, I'd send a note to, Dan, at Cycle Works and ask for the instruction sheet.

What is the unit on the side on the oil cover? a thermostat unit for engaging/cutting out the oil cooler?
