Hi Nigel, I appreciate the feedback on the video's. You summarized my goal for these. To be clear, they are a supplement to the written documentation that I provide the link to in the video introduction text. All the important details are in the documentation including a parts list. Hi Mark, Well, anytime I can induce someone to get their hands dirty working on an Airhead, my work is done. :-)

Just followed this to install my first cam chain on a beemer. Great video and a big help. I found it easier to install the split link from slightly lower down below the bearing. Probably depends on your pliers, light, wrist action etc

Hi there, I have been watchinh all your videos as as I am restoring a 1971 R75/5 that has been badly abused! Thank you for all the invaluable information. One procedure that I would very much appreciate seeing is the installation of the locking pin for the front main bearing into its housing. I have looked everywhere but cant find it. Can you help please? Cheers.

Thank you Sir for this sharing, it is really helpful. I want to get advice. I have second hand R65, which I see some amount of blow back gas coming from carb intake port to filter. It seems like hot gas is flowing back from engine to intake suction filter. And the filter is a bit burned brownish. Is this normal ? By how much of blow back is normal ? Is the timing for intake valve closing is to late ? The engine is overheated if run for more than a hour. Oil dip temp goes up to 140 degC or more. Please advice.

Is the intake valve open too early, and probably it is one tooth too early at timing gear ?

These videos are amazing... I know I would be completely lost without them! I was wondering how big an impact would be if the cam sprocket was off by 1 notch? I have finished my rebuild, and my R80 G/S isn't running right... I am now thinking I may have not been accurate enough when installed the new cam chain. I will be pulling the front end apart either way to check. More of a curious question!

Hi Daniel, thank you for the kind words. If the timing chain is off a tooth, it makes a significant difference in the valve timing. Refer to the link under the summary of the video to see all the details of how to align the sprockets and chain.
