Beautiful bike! I owned one of these and a 1981 maxim xj550. Very unique sounding bikes and very reliable! For the age, Suprisingly fast and nimble!

It is indeed a very nice bike. Strong and at the same time smooth and very confortable to drive. I bought mine in 2005. Love it.

Smooth and comfortable,It also got far more attention than my Ducati Streetfighter v4 . Which isn’t a very common bike either

Nice underrated bikes these XJ650’s I bought one last year and almost have it back on the road. It even has the original exhaust system on it and that sounds great too, almost like a jet turbine. Thanks for uploading this video, as there’s not a lot of content for these machines out there.

Very nice! I have an '82 750 SECA that I brought back to life this past summer. It really does have a unique sound to the engine.

Had one for a few months. Used as a bit of a hack bike. Totally reliable. Good power.👍

Bought a 5k mile barn find with Kerkers, jetted, air caps on the forks and upgraded shocks It was perfect for my monthly commute over several mt passes. Great mileage and handles surprisingly well . They’re buzzy, numb hands after a long day. Super low maintenance is one of the main pluses. Keep the cam chain adjusted, check the oil and go, I abused mine, I’d see the needle over redline a bit I’ll admit, I rode it like I stole it every time I got on it, It never complained.

The self canceling on my 1983 750 Seca still works fine!

Mine was a seca900 and the smoothest bike I’ve ever ridden including gold wings and many more. It was also faster than my buddy’s 903 ninja. Theses bikes were some of the best all round bikes ever made and I would love to find one in decent condition.

Im definitely a Yamaha guy tell you that upfront. I bought a new 550 sec in 1981 i loved that bike my freinds had the 750 . I use to ring that things neck could use 100 percent of it. Little rocket at the time. Wish i still had it.

The turn signals are somehow based on the odometer I think. It looked like you cancelled them before I find that they self cancel, but they may also not work anymore.

The XJ650 was a BOTY winner in 1982. Definitely had the best standard headlight EVER on a motorcycle! Turned night into day! It was different than any other bike I’d owned and it filled a gap I couldn’t otherwise afford at the time (mid to late 90’s). But for me the rest of the bike was….meh.

Hi any impression about the braking ? Asking coz this machine has 2 discs on front wheel and drumbrake on rear wheel.

I was pleasantly surprised how well this bike braked, actually.I felt more confident with the levers feedback than I do with my 1983 GS750. Less of that “ fading “ feeling. Mind you, it’s a 40 year old bike. And the brakes may not be in perfect working order compared to when it was new. Cheers

@@twowheeledwarrior Hi I have the possibility to buy one of this in almost mint condition, the euro 4K0 I mean. OR for the half price I can rebuild my XJ900.. "just" an engine replacement shortly said. What would you do? Buy the 650 and enjoy it or save actually the money, work a lot, and have a good functioning XJ 900 (consider that at the end with the selling of the used parts I could practically recover 80-100% of the expense for the engine replacement). I'm thinking about having BOTH, but i have room problems in my garage). I don't know what to do.

My 1983 GS750E is advertised at anywhere between 84-90. I doubt the 650 could run with it.

My 82 550 seca would smoke a gsx750 but it was chain driven like the Suzuki not a shaft like this one but the shaft is also maintenance free and smooth. The 650 maxim was slo but I’ve never ridden a650 seca. Maybe it is under powered but there must have been something wrong with it.
