Generally speaking, main jet size doesn't become significant until about 3/4 throttle. Up until then, fuel flow is controlled progressively by the pilot jets, then the needle jets. Have you checked the needle positions? Moving the circlip to a lower position raises the needle and enriches mixture in the mid-range.

Thanks both. Several mate. Turned out to be the main jets were way too small although I did notice that one needle was a bit 'sticky'.

Shine a torch also through your diaphragms,even though they don't look split they can have minute perforations..

Are you sure the diaphragms on the carbs are all good Nat ? The no rev symptoms are consistent with one or more split diaphragms - so the slides don’t lift = bogging down. Check by removing and holding them up to a bright light. They should be completely opaque. Thanks for a year of entertainment. Have a great Christmas

As someone else mentioned engine speed/throttle position seems a bit low for main jet issues. Could be but id check to see the slides/needles are actually lifting. Better still pull the diaphragms and check for holes using a torch behind. Can sometimes look ok with quick visual but the torch will pick out defects.

That clutch won't last long doing that..seems it won't go onto the main jets off pilot...1/2 throttle..try bigger mains&leave the fuel screws @3 turns out.."base settings".

If I was like Del I would claim that was the paint effect that I was looking for and I would have probably deleted your comment (or screened it before it was even published). Paint reaction happens sometimes when you are messing around with different paints especially in December. I will roll with it for now.

I have a lathe, not sure how complete my drill bits are in the sizes you're looking at - 1.2 to1.3 mm I guess - and I'm a thousand miles away, but try finding someone with a watchmaker's lathe in your area. Drilling out your jets should be no problem.
