Hard to believe that all of these albums will be 50 this year. 1974 was a great year for music for sure.

I can't explain my pleasure you mentioned "The impossible dream" by the great "Sensational Alex Harvey Band". I never watched anyone talk about this masterpiece in a 1974's favourite albums. Sure it deserved 10/10. Prog, funk, cabaret, hard, pop and fun, fun, fun with a fantastic scottish flavour. Love it, Vambo rools !

I am missing a few of these CDs, Kraftwerk, Man, Captain Beefheart, Hawkwind, and Nektar I think. I really need to give that Gene Clark album more listens, I've only given it a couple. Maybe that will be my New Years resolution. I wondered which album would be number one, I guessed right. A very good list. I think I would put Good Old Boys at number one on my list. Newman really handles the topics of racism and working class people so well on that album. And I like that he doesn't confine the racism to the south, sadly there is plenty here in the north as well. On a lighter note Preservation Act 2 by The Kinks would easily be in my top 5. I have no shame.

That's a great collection of albums from 74. Yes and Genesis are my favorite. I recently listened to the Man album for the first time when researching the 50 year old albums and was impressed. Some of those classics are still waiting for me to discover their greatness. That's ok. They're not going anywhere, and I've got the discovery to look forward to.

Nice to see Hawkwind on your list. UFO - Phenomenon another great 1974 album would be on my list somewhere. Pretty amazing I didn't realize Kimono My House & Propaganda were the same year. I remember not knowing anyone that liked Sparks. One time coworker heard me listening to them and got excited. He came over to my house one day and had a guitar laying around, he picked it up anf broke into playing the main riff to This Town Ain't Big Enough for the Both of Us. Amazing. Turned out he was a Residents fan too. 😂 That was a good day.

1974 was a great year for music! There were many bands who also released their first albums in that year. Just a couple of examples would be KISS, RUSH, Meet the RESIDENTS, and Rocka Rolla by JUDAS PRIEST (for the metalheads out there)! There are many more, but these are the ones I could remember.

I always think 1974 is one of the weakest years during the classic rock era, but gosh there are still so many great albums. A few other favourites of mine to mention too: - Joni mitchell - Court and spark - King crimson - Red - Camel - Mirage - Chicago - Chicago VII - Steely dan - Pretzel logic - 10cc - Sheet music - Linda ronstadt - Heart like a wheel - Billy joel - Streetlife serenade - Focus - Hamburger concerto - Tom waits - The heart of saturday night - Miles davis - Get up with it - Bachman turner overdrive - Not fragile - Santana - Borboletta - Lynyrd skynyrd - Second helping - Stevie wonder - Fulfillingness first finale - Shuggie otis - Inspiration information

Some brilliant albums there. Diamond Dogs a fav of mine, like you I’m getting into Nektar but they are a really good band. The Lamb obviously. I think Kimono might have been one of the first LPs I ever bought and I too threw it in the trash, but unlike you I never got it back out again. How many wines did you have btw? All the best. Dave✅✅

The only track that I immediately resonated with on Queen II was the song Some Day One Day. I like Supertramp but I'm not as huge fan of Crime Of The Century as everyone else seem to be. I prefer the albums that came after it. Country Life by Roxy Music is an album from 1974 that I think lies in your taste too. I like the song Nektar Questions And Answers. But the version I got used to was a remix on a 5 CD Various box-set named Supernatural Fairy Tales some decades ago. Yes Relayer is perfect and impressive. I could never decide if it's my favorite Yes record because the ones before it were perfect and impressive too. I saw the music video Coming Up by Paul McCartney before I knew of Sparks. I find it hard to decide what's best of Kimono My House and Propaganda by Sparks. Together they sound as if they could have been a double album. Their 1977 album Introducing Sparks is also an album I think is very good. But overall of the albums you showed it is mainly Yes Relayer that I still listen to on a regular basis. Also ELO and Genesis are huge for me but not so much their 1974 albums for some reason, maybe the production. Some songs on The Lamb album were originally older, like The Light which was played live in 1971 turned into Lilywhite Lilith, and Frustration from 1970 turned into Anyway. I was born in 1974. It feels like yesterday.

My favorites from your list include Supertramp, Zappa and the two Sparks albums. Propaganda is often my favorite by Sparks, but these days i lean toward indiscreet. Albums from 1974 that i would mention are Sheet Music by 10cc, and Pretzel Logic by Steely Dan (but i know you're not a Steely Dan fan). What else is there? Caribou by Elton John? (NO.)

I cant remember which one it was now but I was watching one of your other videos last night and you said that your favourite Sparks album was Indiscreet, I guess you can't make your mind up between it and Propaganda. Personally I don't get the love for Propaganda, I think it's good but not great and there are a couple of songs on there I never, ever listen to whereas with Indiscreet and Kimono My House I love every single song on both albums.
