Never seen a 70s ambulance with such an impressive light show. I suspect several add-ons. Nonetheless, a mean-looking unit.

I remember coming up to red light intersections with cars on either side of you and slowly roll out exposing that huge front to traffic, crossing your fingers . Was broadsided once right behind my door,that big heavy rig spinning 360 so we ended up facing the same way we were originally headed. Half an hour later we were running calls in another rig 🚑💨

I remember when I was a little boy living in El Monte California this guy got stabbed and I lived in this apartment building and had the real narrow driveway and it's ambulance picked him up in the guy turned and took out the whole side of that ambulance and I could still remember looking down and watching him do it and taking out the Chrome door edge guard it was sad and putting a big dent in it.

Absolutely gorgeous. Do you still have it and work on it?. Brings back a lot of memories with my first job as an EMT for G+L Ambulance Service in Farmington, CT. 1981, just when they started to end the Cadillac use law in CT. Love what you've done with this, and I LOVE those incredible lights!!!

Other than the lighting this looks very similar to the one I drove for Emergency Hospital in Buffalo NY in the late 1970's.
@moneylab28607 жыл бұрын
Beautiful! Very similar to one we had with EMS in the 70's, except ours was white over red, and had a single rotating beacon on the roof. Is that a MARS light at the front center? Definitely helps clearing traffic, especially at night

A quick search show plenty of pre-1970 panel van and truck-based ambulances. Car-based ambulances were faster, more comfortable over long distances and poor roads, and could serve as hearses, but these attributes weren’t required in large cities.
