1970 Cadillac Superior high top ambulance
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Quick look at the latest Cadillac acquisition. This Cadillac series 75 chassis would have been sent to the Superior ambulance Company to be built. The build there would have included all the body modifications the high top unit all of the interior equipment that you see on it today would have been done by Superior. Now there's an American LaFrance connection as well on the body plate under the hood it says that American LaFrance supplied the body type. So all you guys that know all the history of this are certainly welcome to chime in and make some remarks.
thanks to my buddy Jack metner in Boise Idaho he spotted this Cadillac come up for sale and sent me a link to the ad right away so I have Jack go take care of business for me and we we got it so here it is in all its bright red Glory hope you like it

Amazingly SOLID when you close the doors.
My brother Stacy is the reason she is in such great shape, he waxed and kept her looking new since we retired her from active duty in 1988. It spent its last years in service moving critically I’ll infants from Rual hospitals to the NICU in Boise, the cloud like suspension is still unmatched in any large vehicle. It’s really a member of the family, I’m glad you appreciate her. We called it “Clancy”

A Absolute piece of American Art. Beautiful. Unmatched in workable room and ride comfort. I answered many calls in one like this commanding presence on the road. Thank you for keeping this beauty for all to enjoy.

Way cool" ...from MN 🥶 👍👍
Wow. That's a time capsule on wheels.
I was expecting to see it all lit up and hear that Federal Q fan siren! Gorgeous piece of history!
Nothing like a 1970 High top. Best looking Cadillac ever
I'd say getting that ambulance is a true fantasy. Funny how some of us that have an obsession with these old ambulances are the only ones that understand the feeling. My wife pretends to understand but she gives me that blank look like, it's not a nice pair of shoes. That she understands. OMG that's funny. Drove a Lifeliner during the first 6 months of my EMS career. 1981. Technically the car wasn't suppose to be run as a primary 1st responder but the owners of the ambulance service weren't having it. LOL. I miss those days a lot.
back when ambulances had class
Walk around and story is nice. Need to fire up that beast and roll lights and sirens!
Wow an old life pack 5 started my ems career in 1983 the town had retired this style but in 1990 when I worked carbon and Schuylkill counties 2 services still ran these til about 1993
A Gold Mine!. Started out in a Caddy Ambulance went through all the tech upgrades over the years. Would love to fine one just like it. After thirty years as a Paramedic what a Gem .
Nice find! Amazing condition! The neighborhood Robins sound busy.
This should go on the Antiques Road Show
I really don't mind breaking my ankle to take a ride in this beautiful majestic ambulance, heck ill even snap my neck for a ride hahaha 😉👍😀❤️

You landed on a GEM!
I remember when I was a kid and about half the ambulances you would see were Cadillacs similar to this. Gradually they switched to vans, which I imagine were much less expensive. Still, there is something cool about those old Cadillacs....
I can say I remember driving some of those in my early EMS days. (1979) Very cool
Wow I wish I had that thing.. It's beautiful
Rode in a 71 Caddy. great units
I drove one of these in the 70's- The Q2B was incredible- I now have to wear hearing aids ( no joke) No OSHA around to mandate hearing protection The ambulance I drove had 2 batteries and a 250 amp alternator- If you were using the lights, siren and transmitting with the radio, the engine would stall-
What a gem!!
I got brought across to EMS in 1982 and fire in 1983. This was the days in small towns where fire and EMS were separate organisations, but the same members were on both. My one regret in my career is I never got to make a run in one of these.
What a beauty! If I had it I would drop the hood at least once a day to hear that sound.
Ha ! what a catch, complete with scoop stretcher and Lifepak 5 defib!! In 1970 ?
You’re so lucky!! I had a chance to buy a 1976 one in 1989. But I passed on it. I still regret it to this day! I would have had the greatest car in high school!
Yes, it's a piece of history and I think it's a real beauty. All those bells, lights, siren etc. -not to mention all the other gear.Huge, iconic and very Impressive with all those decorations and bright livery, to be sure. I hope we see another feature on it myself. Cheers
WHEN YOU'RE READY TO SELL, I'M READY TO BUY!!!
That's amazing. They kept it immaculate. Wow. Plus all the supplies and equipment still in it. That's unbelievable.
My dad drove one exactly like it in 1970. Nice.
I always liked the Cadillac ambulance conversion. This ambulance be great for car shows & parades to name a couple. Very nice Cadillac ambulance. 👍
I wish you would have turned all the lights on and cranked that awesome Federal Q siren!

Oh yes please .....all the love from the UK, the thought of driving that the 6-miles to work in tea time traffic brings me SUCH JOY. Many thanks for sharing.
Excellent vehicle! I'm an former firefighter and I just love this stuff!
That is so cool. We just bought a blue 1970 Cadillac ambulance. It doesn't have the lights and stuff on top.
Too bad you didn’t show us with lights on
Ada-Boi did mainly Critical Care Transport I'm the Southern Idaho Region and as I recall this was one of two Cadillacs they had . The other was a '74 Cadillac Superior .

@@happyjack880 It can be done if the equipment is configured right .
Well designed rig. Everything accessible, and actually more than adequate room for patient care; in some ways superior to the big boxes where you can get thrown around in the back.
One bad thing was at an intersection and you had cars on either side of you you had to sacrifice that huge front end and inch forward slowly, being so low you were blind. 🚑💨
OMG, I haven't seen a Lifepak 5 in forrrrrever! I remember the first time I ever used one I thought to myself "wow, this is some fancy equipment!" lol
What a beauty it is, and with all the old equipment! Thank you so much for posting! I LOVE it!!!!
Nice, very nice. Perfect for parades & maybe car shows & so on.
Very, very cool
Love it you just cant help your self ! NICE
Beautiful car! Thank you.
Great buy. I rode in a very similar ambulance.
This is so cool ! I assume that’s a 472 under the hood ?
You hear about the one for sale in LA with 000234.3 miles on the clock? Never used 1993 fleetwood ambulance
I really enjoyed watching your video! From the beautiful shape of your car, it appears that your ambulance was kept parked indoors in a garage away from the outside elements. This is a true collector's item because it has only its original equipment and is not adorned with additional emergency lights or a modern-day electronic siren which would take away from the authenticity of the vehicle. Back in the day (to be exact, 1960 and forward), most of these Cadillac Superior high-top ambulances had Federal Class Q sirens, as does your ambulance. Very authentic! All of the fire departments in the Greater Cincinnati Area operate EMS Life Squads and nearly all had these Cadillac high-top ambulances. Two fire departments I personally knew of had the 1970 Cadillac Superior ambulance (built by Superior Coach Company, Lima, Ohio). Most of the life squad ambulances were white over red, all white, but rarely all-red. However, the Cheviot Fire Department (Cheviot, Ohio) had an all-red Life Squad ambulance just like yours. I believe it was a 1970, but I'm not sure. The "Cheviot Life Squad" all-red ambulance looked just like yours, the only difference being they had the word "CHEVIOT" on the top front white plate instead of "AMBULANCE". You have a beautiful, well-kept vehicle there. Take good care of it as it is a real collector's item, especially with ONLY its original (exterior) lights and siren. BTW, nice cat at the end of your video! I have five (5) cats here that keep me going day and night. Sorry so Lengthy! ---- John

I had the same exact vehicle as a daily when I was 19 in Massachusetts, right down to the year and color. What a fun time we had in that! Funny you should mention Cincinnati. I had to drive it there to buy a windshield from a guy who had dozens of Caddy hearses and ambulances in a big garage. It was the only one I could find for sale in the US back in 85. I wonder what happened to him and all those vehicles?
Great vehicle
Sad with no lights and sound show from the car.
I absolutely love this. What a find. Do you still ownit?
She's awesome
Hello, I live in Fruitland ID and worked in these type vehicles in the 70’s. I would love to see this car sometime. Any chance you are in sw Idaho?

NICE FIRST AID GANGSTER RIDE
I see this one has defibrillators. Look like HP Life Packs. Proper ambulance. Not scoop and shoot meat wagon like most of these Cadillacs. Very nice.

Yes, we’re very fortunate to have the complete and original correct devices on board.
Why did some ambulances in those glory years have curtains while others didn't have any at all? There were a few that I saw that didn't even have any stripes on the windows.
I see they have a "scoop stretcher" hanging there, designed so EMS personnel can uncouple either end or both ends of the stretcher and gently scoop up the patient using a scissor-type closing motion.
Those back tires could use some air. They're looking a little bit low on it.
Don't EVER show a vintage ambulance without lighting it up!
I would have liked it a little more if you could have turned on the lights and sirens LOL

It would be great if you could find a set of nice 1970 hub caps to put back on the car. Those 1975 caps are too plain.
Has that got the self closing door mechanism like the sedan trunks had?
