1972 Pontiac GTO! 400, 4 speed! Walk Around and Drive! 1 of 150 with this feature... And Burnouts!!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Check this car out! 1972 Pontiac GTO with a 400, 4 speed, 3.23 rear end, factory air condition and a tape stripe that was only put on 150 GTO's! We walk around and look at this all original survivor that my buddy has owned close to 30 years. Built in Fremont California and now residing in Oregon. If you have questions leave them in the comments. He does not baby this car and it runs like a champ!

I would pay good money to buy that car. I owned a 72 GTO, repeating earlier comments but mine was Lucerne Blue, Banjo stripes, Close ratio 4 speed which was a option group, all in dash gauges to include tach, white on black interior, 3.23 posi with factory airconditioning with the banjo stripes from the factory. No console and get this....drum brakes all around! I used to say, all go and no WHOA!!! I have only seen 1 like it since I sold it back in 1983. At 19 years old I had just gotten a full time job in Chicago and my Dad talked me into doing the responsible thing which was getting rid of the GTO and buying a Toyota Celica (smh). The Pontiac 400's of that era did not like to rev and one would bleed out lifters quickly. However, the torque they produced was massive and there was really no reason to run these things past 5000rpm in stock form. I drove mine like I stole it as well.

Dang, that sounds like a truly sweet car. I bet buying that Corolla was hard to do after owning the GTO. But we’ve all been there I think. I’ve got several cars that I still wish I owned. Thank you got sharing.

How to see a 72 GTO get some attention. they are great cars. I have owned 4 different '72 GTOs since 1977 and still own the one I bought in 1984! Have driven that one just over 400,000 miles myself, it now has just over 500,000 miles and I cannot wait to put more on her. 2 of the '72 GTOs I have owned had the optional side stripe. take care from here in Arizona

Very cool GTO !!! Had a 69 GTO myself back in high school. Late 70s. You could buy all day long for 1500 bucks. Not now lol. Sounds like a Ram air 4 cam. Nice lope to it. Old big inch Pontiacs are so fun even with stock power. Pontiac torque is second to none. Awesome video !!!

White interior. 400 auto with AC PB PS and i got it when i was 16 with only @72,000 original miles on it. I never really drove it so i sold it after he died and it just sat in the garage,,,,,,WHY DID I SELL IT!!! I still had every paper it came with, even the protect o plate and dealer paperwork. It was titled in his first and last name only, not his middle name or initial, which is my name too, so the 72 title was kinda in my name since they were the same name. I was born in 75 and the car was bought in 72 but who woulda noticed that ! LOL

I was wondering why it lit em up so easy it's a one wheel wonder I'm sure you have plans to upgrade the carrier one day to limited slip or no especially with the new motor it doesn't even breath hard to spin one small 15 inch tire like that two would be a piece of cake too not only that being open like that makes it unpredictable when you do get a bit sideways I always hated when it would kick out back to one wheel at the worst possible moment and learned very very young how a limited slip worked and how much more stable and again predictable it was going sideways between two parked cars in a parking lot on a Saturday night was common place who said the japs invented drifting not me .. lol nice car .bro I have always been a poncho man way more bang for the. Buck than any sbc motor for sure !

Since the video it’s been upgraded to a posi unit and now spins both tires with ease. Currently he’s doing some maintenance to it, sealing a couple oil leaks and fixing a linkage issue with the trans. He was out and over any my house with it last week. It runs great!

@@Mclovingarage besides wearing out one tire only is just well it's just not right lol especially a car of that caliber when its parked and you happen to look at the rear tires and the passenger side is worn where the other isnt things that just make you shudder and go hmmm with all the other options it was ordered with I'm surprised a limited slip was not among them or even standard equipment it should have been w a 12 bolt 355;1 or 373:1 gear ratio although it's got the torque for the gears it has

  • @warrens405

HP was never measured at the rear wheels, in 72 HP was called NET HP - the hp at the flywheel with the engine installed in the car with all the accessories bolted on and the factory air cleaner. The 71 400 was rated at 300 gross hp, the 72 was 250 net hp, that would be possibly 220 or so hp at the rear wheels. This car sounds like it has a more that stock power...

Hey Jerry I love your goat. I have basically the same car. 72 400 4 speed as well except mine is cardinal red with the black strobe stripe. I did put the stripe on myself though but it is the original color and is an original 4 speed. I like the green so much better on your but I got mine because the price was right and the options it had. Btw your friend who helped your rebuild this must of found a way to up the compression from the stock 8.3. A ram air IV cam is supposed to be a complete turd in the low compression Pontiacs bc they bleed off compression and at low rpms you really only will have 7ish dynamic compression. I asked about putting a ram air 3 or 4 cam in mine on a GTO forum and I had about 40 members rip into me. You know those forums are a crap shoot anyways. Everyone disagrees with each other and their always someone else that knows a better way to do it. Anyways, glad it worked out well for you. She’s a strong runner!
