I just bought a 72 Charger in June that sat for 20 years and is going through a full rebuild/restoration! It's a numbers matching car with a 400 4 barrel in it(which will stay in it). Factory A/C, power steering, hideaway headlights, power front disc brakes, dual sport mirrors, Brougham interior package, rallye instrument cluster, fender turn signals, and more! It's got Cragar Keystone Klassic wheels on it, including 295s in the rear! The odometer reads 15k original miles(probably 115k though haha). So much of this car is in mint, and I mean MINT condition, such as the bumpers, the hideaway headlights, the headlights themselves, the tail lights and the turn signals, the mirrors, all the glass, the whole dash except for the dash pad, the sun visors, both door panels including the rear side panels(which are normally all screwed up), the rear seat, the rear sail panels, and more! The stuff that's bad is the metal, such as most body panels, all the floor pans and the trunk pan, and unfortunately the frame, because it's a Michigan car. The entire suspension and brake system needs to be replaced as well. It'll all be well worth it though! So excited for this car!

I ordered a 71 Charger SuperBee, 340, 4 speed, 3.55 dana rear end, dark metallic bronze, black vinyl interior, manual everything. To this day I still have dreams that I have that car moth balled somewhere. Just for the record the 340 was much faster than the 383. I ate 383's for lunch every day.

~Depends on the condition of the 383..you raced 383's that ran on 6 or 7 cyl ,oh don't laugh most old cars in the 80's and 90's even 00's the engines had 160,000 miles of rough raced miles and yep they didn't have a small exhaust leak as 99.99% of the people say,the engine is dead! Every car I bought I checked the compression,I had smooth running and reliable 383's,440's that had 2 cyl with less than 60 psi the others 110-130 the engine was shot and down on power, but people sold them tat way as thats how they were and thinking they had full power lol..people still do that! You raced 383's with tiny carbs, you raced non h.p 383's a 2bbl 383 someone put a 4bbl on,you raced non high performance 383's aka non 383 Magnums(magnum 383 had a performance cam/heads/valve springs etc were better too)..There was a difference from a 383 2bbl and a 383 4bbl and a 383 high performance aka Magnum version.. You said you had a 340 with a 4 speed and 3.55's..well,if you raced lets say a 1971 Charger with a 340 4 speed and 3.55's vs a 1971 Charger 383 magnum, auto and 2.94's well then you would probably beat it off the line, after 60 the 383 would go by you....The 4 speed trans has a lower 1st gear vs the automatic so quicker starts, the 3.55 is a lower gear thus quicker starts. If you raced a 71 340 vs a 69 383,auto,3.55 then the 69 would beat you..I know I owned them all! But I like 340's too,I owned several 340 cars over the years,I put 250,000 miles on 2 different 340 cars/combined..remember this was bone factory stock vs bone factory stock, now if your 340 had headers, intake, bigger carb and raced a stock 383 magnum then you had more power then the stock 383,but if the 383 had the same mods as the 340 then the 383 would beat you..oh well, thing is I owned a perfect running 71 340 Super Bee auto with 3.23 gears and a 71 Super Bee 383 Magnum auto with 3.23 gears and the 383 was quicker..both these cars came from a collector who bought them in 1982..cars were low miles with documents, never restored, ran perfect..I still have the 1971 383 Super Bee today...I sold the 340 back in 1999 to another car collector buddy of mine.

What kinda a goon dumbs down any object let alone a thing like this & even paid Podge a extra 46 Buck's to have Less horesgrunt & torque 335crank up maybe 281 at the wheels est. if running properly compared to the dumbed down 318 bored and stroke to a so-called 340 ci . Plus this thing is way too much of a 300C like heavier pig than the dusters & darts were & needed by default the 383 ci grunter,As they say some people's children are dumber than ever this goon being a great example.
