Genuine Challenger T/A with a very desirable factory 4-speed! Also highly desirable factory red with red interior. This special T/A underwent a rotisserie restoration to factory specs.
Why is a T/A so special? They were a very limited production, high performance car based on Dodge's Trans Am race car. Only 1,411 automatics and 989 4-speeds were ever made. It was only a 1 year production. It's not just a 340 car with a 6 pack and fancy decals slapped on it. The engine blocks were actually unique to this car, built stronger. It also has special heads, modified valve train and 3 holley carbs. The burnt fuel is let out through a low restriction exhaust that exits in front of each rear tire. The rear tires are taller to give clearance to the side exhaust which also gives the car a cool stance. Other features include a Sure Grip rear, Upgraded brakes with disc in front, rallye suspension, quick ratio steering and performance tires on 15x7 wheels. It also features a light weight fiberglass hood in flat black to eliminate glare to the driver with an air intake scoop and racing pins. Special stripes, emblems, pop up gas cap, racing mirror, blacked out grill and a dove tail spoiler make it look the part.
EXTERIOR: The body is clean and straight, it's claimed to have it's original metal. The hidden VIN numbers on the core support and cowl match the car. The fiberglass ram air hood is in good shape, doors shut real nice. It has the chin spoilers and dovetail in back. The factory Bright Red paint has a smooth, glossy finish. It has the correct T/A striping. The vinyl top is excellent. The chrome is shiny, stainless is straight. This is the only car I know of that came from the factory with staggered size tires, the rear tire is a taller to give more clearance for the side exhaust. They are 15 inch Rallye wheels with reproduction tires G60s in back, E60s in front.
INTERIOR: I'm sitting in the car right now and it looks fantastic. Down on the floor is bright red carpet with matching embroidered mats. The red upholstery has all been replaced. The center console is in very good shape and has the pistol grip shifter sticking out of it. In front of me is an excellent dash pad with no cracks. The instrument panel and factory gauges are excellent. There's no cracks, damage or cuts. It has the original AM radio and a rare clock. Mini tachometer and oil pressure gauge is mounted below. The door panels have been replaced, the headliner is very good. It has it's original dated 1969 red seatbelts.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a correct 340 T/A high performance 6-Pack engine. T/A is cast right on the side of the block, it is properly dated for this car. Correct manifolds, carbs, valve covers and ram air system. It even has date coded spark plug wires, reproduction hoses and clamps. It has a reproduction Mopar battery bolted down properly. All the components on the firewall are clean and correct. It has both horns, squirters are hooked up, fan shroud is correct. Both fender tags are still attached, one gives the option codes and the other one says Trans Am.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is complete and restored. Under the trunk lid, the jamb and the entire trunk compartment is painted red. It has a collapsible spare with the Chrysler air bottle and a jack assembly. It all looks like new and is properly installed. The weatherstrip and mat were replaced. The trunk light works.
UNDERSIDE: Everything was removed from under this car. It was flipped on a rotisserie and the rust free floors, frame rails, rockers were prepped and painted body color. All the steering and suspension was completely rebuilt and reassembled. These cars come with a rally suspension and quick ratio steering. It also has disc brakes in front with 11-in drums in back. The lines, hoses, e-brake cables were replaced. Very unique factory side outlet dual exhaust system. The fuel system was replaced including the tank. Looking up at the motor it is clean, starter looks fresh. It has a correct 4-speed trans. 3.55 Sure Grip rear end in the back. It all looks fresh.
SERVICE: We inspected the car and gave it a front end alignment.
This is an exciting car with so many fun and unique features. It is rare and desirable. This one is extra special being a 4-speed and red in and out!

Fantastic walkaround! You hit on almost everything that made the T/A and AAR special E-bodies. They also had unique valvetrain... I really appreciate your attention to detail.
