1968 Tonka Jeep Wrecker Snow Plow Tow Truck Recovery Willys CJ2A

I purchased this 1968 Tonka Jeep Wrecker Snow Plow Tow Truck on eBay March of 2021. it was in super rough shape and missing some parts. It was missing the tow crane which I purchased used and added it to the unit, It was also missing the front plow and the emergency light on the hood. Otherwise it was all there just in very rough shape. The body had obviously been crushed and folded up, everything was extremely dirty and rusty. Overall it was in perfect shape for a restoration. This being my first Tonka Jeep to add to the collection I was super excited to operate on this toy. The plastic body still has a few stains but overall I'm extremely happy with how this little snow plow truck came out and look forward to utilizing it to tow in some future projects. Thanks for watching! Tonka number 2435 Tonka "Jeep Wrecker W/ Plow" CJ2A Jeep Body.

I'm a 57 yo female who, for reasons unknown, had one of CCRs' videos show up on my YT doorstep about a week ago.(??) I took the bait out of curiosity, having nothing close to interest in this hobby. A few videos and a sub later, I am now a fan. Although still not interested in taking up the hobby, I do enjoy watching the process of the restoration, and the lovely thought of how much joy this gentleman gets out of this worthy pastime. Rock on Chip!👍😎🚛

I have watched all of your videos and some of the ones from other restorers. In my opinion, you are the only one really doing it right. COMPLETE dis-assembly, metal work, powder coating with primer then the color coat with wet sanding in between. Nickel Plating...The guys that spray paint with no primer can't get finishes as smooth as yours are. Your restorations look like the toys were manufactured yesterday. Keep up the great work.

I really enjoy watching these restoration projects-especially the Tonka Toys (I work in Minnetonka, MN, just down the road from where a lot of them were created). I like to buy old locomotive models I grew up with from the junk bin in the hobby store, just to see if I can get them to run again. There’s something about buying discarded old technology and making it new again that is really satisfying and there are a lot of times when the old stuff runs better than the new stuff with just a little motor maintenance. Here’s a tip for the decals; spray some glass cleaner where you’re going to put the decal. Lay it down and slide it around to position it then just let the glass cleaner dry. The decal will stick where you left it.

To nearly anyone else, a Jeep with a “bent frame” would end up in a salvage yard… permanently. Not to Jedi Master Chip! Another flawless restoration. Great to see the salvage yard sheep have returned to work. Thank you for the bi-weekly ASMR fix! Cheers, John in Ohio 👍

I have spent many hours sandblasting small motorcycle parts so I offer you this tip. A cheap pair of needle nosed pliers of salad tongs to hold your parts while blasting them. Why? The blast media will wear holes in your glove fingertips. Salad tongs cost about $1 as opposed to blasting cabinet gloves are about $28 a pair. I have also used heat shrink or masking tape on the tips of the pliers to soften the bite / not leave any marks. I enjoyed the video, Tonka trucks was everything to me as a kid growing up.

Oh the days when a manufacturer spent time to engineer a toy that would last for years. The design team really did have thier stuff together, and make sure that the customer got his value for the product they paid for. Unfortunately, now a days, corporate greed, and lack of concern about the consumer value, and only to make as high as profit possible. Of course, plastic is king in the throw away generation, cheap is the easy way, and no value in today's toy's. I can't imagine what the future toy restorer will have to deal with. Let alone finding the real steal to show how it used to be. Thank you for creating this kind of content, and please keep up the amazing work.

Takes me back. My dear mum bought one of those for me at the neighbourhood Woolworth's back in the day. It cost $3.79. My best friend Laurette's mum bought her a blue one. We played with them for hours on our freshly-paved shared double driveway. Happy times. Thanks for this! :o)
