1968 Charger Speedometer Gear Swap - Episode 32
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
After upgrading to a 3.23 Sure Grip on my car, I was needing to change out my speedometer gear to have a more accurate speedometer reading. I decided to get a 33 tooth gear but may change to a 32 tooth after testing my car. The entire process to switch out gears takes about 15-20 minutes. Let me know if you have any questions.

Just did the same job, the chart was a great tool to have, Dana 60 with 4.10 and a tire diameter of 28" called for a gear with 38 teeth. The speedo is dead accurate.

That's awesome. Mine is pretty accurate!
Crisp, clear, to the point. Excelent video, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Well this is over 3 years later after you posted the video and it's still helping people, I just figured out after 8 months of owning my truck that you have to position that cap in a certain spot depending on what size gear you have, thank you. You're a lifesaver!

Thanks for the awesome video, i just recently realized my speedometer was off by 10mph and your video was the first thing i found. I don't know if you remember me, we met at COTA when they were hosting Cars & Coffee, i have the Blue 68 Coronet.

Hey Robert, I remember. Your Coronet is awesome. Are you just needing to switch out the gear in your speedometer housing?

@@68Charger Yes, I have the same tire as you but my gear ratio is 3.55 so 36 tooth gear according to the chart. Looks like a pretty straight forward job. Hope COTA brings back Cars and Coffee soon.
Is there any way you can show how to install a speedometer cable or how yours looks under the dash? I have heard it’s hard to get to and it has to be done a certain way? Mine also burnt near the exhaust. I might have gotten the wrong size. This has become frustrating! I assume it would run the same for small and big block cars? I hope.

I’ll have to take pics of the bottom of the car, mine had clamps the I feed the cable through, I did buy an after market one that didn’t work well and ended up buying an oe one that did the trick, i remember it being the shorter one in length
