1965 Bedford CA | 2023 New Year Running Day | Vintage Buses with Friends of King Alfred Buses

The New Year 2023 on the Broadway, Winchester, Friends of King Alfred Buses brings a fleet of the vintage buses for the members of public to have a free ride. By popular demands, a part of this video captures the sound of the vintage buses, as a part of the experience.
The little gem in the fleet is the Bedford CA mini bus from 1965. This video tells you all about it, plus the special asymmetric parking light, and more.
Sorry for the typo in the video, it should be "asymmetric".
Many thanks for all members of Friends of King Alfred Buses, helping to make this video! Special thanks to James Freeman, Henry Pratt, and many more members who involved in recordings of this video.
If you have a story to tell, please let me know...!
Special thanks for Friends of King Alfred Buses, to make this video possible. Please visit their web site to see the fleet and everything about them:

Love vintage buses. AEC as well as Leyland, Bristol and many oters made superb stylish classic designs. For me the RF was just so perfect, an absolute beautiful design in shape and style.

lovely. that Leyland Titan with upstairsgangway to the side of the seating reminded me of East Lancashire as a Child, Blackburn or Accrington Corporation had that strange layout. if passenger near window wanted to get off it was all move ha ha

Just a bit of info. If this CA was purchased in the 60's the dealers name would still have been E.J Baker, it didn't become Baker West until the early 70's when the whole group was bought by a company called Dorada Holdings. The original E.J. Baker group was headquartered in Dorking, and had branches across Surrey, Kent and Sussex, plus one in Slough, and one in Aldershot. Upon purchase, the company was renamed geographically, as Baker West and Baker East. I suspect that your CA was bought from Baker West in Bordon, which specialised in coaches and buses, although, this branch wasn't opened until about 1973. I think this is the case, because the Farnham branch was primarily a commercial vehicle bodyshop, and wasn't really concerned with vehicle sales. I worked for The Aldershot branch from the early 70's and do remember dealing with King Alfred Motor Services, Aldershot doing the mechanical work, and Farnham the bodywork. This was all transferred to the specialist coach and bus branch in Bordon when it opened.
