Regarding 0:57, for those who are unaware, typewriter ribbons also are available in all black ink as an alternative to a ribbon with its upper half in black ink and its lower half in red ink. Since red ink is not often used to type characters, then an all black ink typewriter ribbon will last twice as long for typing only black characters all the time.

I've used odorless mineral spirits, fine nylon brushes and compressed air to unstick keys.

I have the same exact one. Same color and all. Looks and types like brand new. I also have the Smith Corona Sterling (1955), Smith Corona Silent (1953). Bother like new, type great and are used every other day. I switch them around and make sure they are used every week. I also have a Royal Caravan Portable that my Mom bought for me when I was 16 years old. I was taking a typing class in high school. Still like new. I also have a 1965 Royal Portable Aristocrat. Beautiful machine. I have a desk type Royal De Luxe, Smith Corona Galaxie. That one is black & white. Same one that was in the movie “Breakfast At Tifinny’s”. I have a 1959 Olympia SM4 in Hunter Green. Just like new. I also have a 1964 Smith Corona Sterling in a light blue. Again like new. Finally a Royal Desk (1943) have some work to do on that one. I use a different machine everyday. Enjoyed the video.

I'm looking to purchase one since I love typing.I'm a nerd for reading and typing.I love to write.Also to make a book and type of letters.

The case is specially designed to hold the typewriter in place. Though if lost, sometimes you can find a replacement. Depending on model. I mean, something like a Pelican or Flight case with foam you can pluck out based on the size.

Im getting one that has the right carriage knob missing, will this make it hard to load paper,or can you just use the left knob to load paper?

Yes, you can still use it with just one knob. In fact, a lot of the older machines only had one knob. Though if you contact me on my side, I can send you one of the knobs I have here. Just the cost of shipping
