1964 Impala Magnaflow Exhaust Install
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Finally got the 16724 magnaflow exhaust kit installed on the 1964 Impala. The kit is a bolt on kit but I had to do a little welding since I had different size exhaust manifolds. Overall the kit is fairly simple to install and sounds great.

THEM MAGNAFLOWS GOING TO ROCK I GOT EM 👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾☝🏾
Get a oil filter adapter and switch over to a modern style filter, it will give you some room because that old style is huge and a mess when changing your oil, and you can put on a filter that out performs yesteryears technology, win/win. (Anything but a fram!) That magnaflow is what I was looking into , cant wait to hear it.

Thanks, looking to go with spin on filter conversion and also a smaller starter.
What's up brother. Any updates? Hope all is well, I look to your videos for motivation as I'm slowly building my 63 ss in my garage.

@@ClassicCarOverhaul Thanks, can't wait for the new vids. I get discouraged a lot knowing I don't have the budget to complete it anytime soon. But there is A LOT I can do on my own at not that much cost so I will be getting back to it. I'm currently in the process of stripping the car to bare metal. After that I'm going to shoot a dtm epoxy primer which I already have.

@@ClassicCarOverhaul Hey the main 3 pieces of side trim on a 63 do they slide out of the clips or do you have to pop them off? I have no idea how to remove them.
Looks good, when do we get to hear it!

Thanks Erik, hope to make a vid soon of how it sounds
Hey, how's the car coming along? What happened to all you're videos?
Any clips of the sound of this exhaust?
How did you install the brackets on the seat supports. The hole is about 11/16 without threads
Did you ever post a video of the exhaust with your car running so we could hear it? Is that a 409 car?

I don't remember if there is a video of the car running, it's a 327
Hay Sam. Any updates on the 64? Hope to hear something soon. Craig.

What’s the part number of the magnaflow downpipes? Would they have worked with the factory manifolds without cutting and welding ?

The magnaflow exhaust kit is #16724. The exhaust manifolds were from Speedway Motors part # 9300330. Yes the magnaflow exhaust kit would have worked with the factory manifolds which I have, but I wanted new ones and all I could find were the 2 1/2" outlet.
Good stuff Sam. Should we be worried at all about the raptor liner failing from the heat off the pipes. You know I sprayed mine too and I’m starting to wonder if it will hold up..

I was wondering the same thing. Not sure on the durability of the raptor liner when exposed to high heat. May have to fabricate some sort of heat shield and maybe wrap the exhaust pipe at least up to the muffler.
I just bought my kit and I’m having a issues on the passenger side it’s hitting the arm and on the driver side the oil canister and the exhaust is sticking out no where close to the frame . Any help?

Are you using the existing exhaust manifold. On mine the passenger side has clearance from the a arm but it touches the starter. On the driver side it touches the oil canister but it has just enough clearance to remove the oil canister

@@ClassicCarOverhaul thanks for the reply! I’m using ram horn exhaust manifolds. On my passenger side it’s touching the arm and the starter and on my driver side it’s not lining up with the frame it under the floor pan almost sticking out. We put the muffler and pipe to the to see where it falls and literally it sticks outside . Some help would be highly appreciated 🙏 also about the bolts that come with it is it better to self tap or use what’s on the kit ?
Can't wait to hear it. Won't the starter hit the exhaust when you give it gas and it Flex is on the mounts?
