Awesome find I have a 1960 four-door a 1963 two-door in a 1964 four-door they have lots of Michigan rust I've got two of them running I'll be waiting for your updates for sure👍

I had a '61 Corvair 700. It had the 80hp motor and a pg. I would prefer the manual trans though and a bit more hp. Other than painting it a dual-tone gray it was a really good car and my kids loved it because you could see out of it. Nowadays I wish I had it back. Yes it was a 4 door. Everything worked great and doors closed with only a slight pull or push. So much better than modern cars. The only problem with a gas heater is the amount of fuel they use. Other than that they work well, at least for me. I had a VW that had about the same exact gas heater and it worked just fine. The trim on mine was polished stainless, not chrome.

That is so cool :) I think we all lose a little of ourselves when we have to sell one of our Corvairs. That is interesting that the gas heater uses a noticeable amount of gas. I assume that fuel economy was one of the reasons they moved on from the heaters. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice 1960 Chevrolet Corvair 700. Your going to love everything about the 1960 Corvair; I use to own a 1960 4 door 700 Cascade Green, & it was the 2nd Corvair I owned that I bought I believe in 1989 with only 35,000 miles on it. It needed some simple engine work to me anyway. I remember I had to hand fabricate that choke tube as you could not get a replacement, & I did manage to get one of the few remaining thermostats for the cooling fan; Which is neat because it is unique to the 60 seeing how it only needs 1, & is bigger than the later models that had 2. One other thing that was unique to the 60 was on the exterior rear deck lid it was the only Corvair to have Chevorlet letter script on it other than the 95 Greenbriers; Speaking of the 95's it shared the same headlight bezels as the 60 Corvair. It was with great regret that I sold the 60 so I could make room for the 67 Convertible. That engine was so quite, & smooth running, & I do recall driving down I 95 at 70 mph without a strain on the engine, & it had the 2 speed Power-Glide, & came with optional front seat belts. I did drive her a few times in the winter on snow covered roads before any salt was put down; Just to see how she handled, & to use the gasoline heater that worked fine with no issues; Even the original tube radio worked fine. I still have the vanity plate that I had for it; Which was 60 VAIR. As it was registered for regular use, & annual state inspections. I did run mechanical fuel pump without any issues. I don't know if it's part of Corsa but there is a club called Caveman Corvair that is dedicated to 60 Corvairs; If You ever need some help with her or have ???'s let me know; I'll try to help You if I can. I'm looking forward to watching your videos on the 1960 Corvair 700. Oh one more thing IMHO they got it right when they introduced the 1960 Chevrolet Corvair; They are very reliable automobiles.

Looking forward to digging into the engine to see if it runs and also sealing it up so it doesn't leak. Going to be a really fun summer. I hope to have all four of my Corvairs up and running in the next couple of months. Then I can focus on my real goal which is to obtain an FC truck or van to work on. @@EndWrenchRookie If You ever go the FC 95 route; I would go with the 1964's because of the 164 displacements, & the Corvan or Greenbrier hold more people, & are quite comfortable on very long trips, & the trucks are very expensive to get into IMHO; Take care.

When I was 16 I bought a 500 4dr 1960. $125.00 The heater was working and was fantastic in Chicago. Instant hot heat. Very hot btw.

At 11:58; I'm guessing the metal disc with a square nut, just right of the windshield wiper motor is a cap for the brake fluid reservoir (leak)? ;-) I heard that someone did some aerodynamic tests on a early model and later model (coupe, 4dr, I don't know), but the result was the early model was "slightly" more aerodynamic. We had a 1964 Corvair convertible (110hp, 4sp), my mom worked at a tire store and she got a free set of Michelin tires and it was funny my 5' and a bit tall mom trying to tell gas station attendants the tires weren't flat. ;-D

Lol. That's cool. It is funny how misunderstood the Corvair is in general :) Good eye on the leak. Haven't had a chance yet to dive into the car but I will look into that one for sure. Thanks!!
