We had one of these when i was a child. I got to use it to iron handkerchiefs, pillowcases, napkins ... anything flat. My mother did the hard pieces. Would love to have one today.

As a little girl, I sat by my mother and watched her iron on the mangle, which was in our kitchen. Watching her iron men's handkerchiefs flat, then folding them and placing 4 or 5 of them on the mangle at once to iron the folds flat, was particularly interesting, as they all fell from the back of the cylinder, pressed and flat. I think I may have handed the clothes to her. I wonder what we talked about. Simpler times.

I JUST bought one, I hope it works...its in MINT condition but that doesn't mean motor works but when I found $480 for one on Ebay, I figured for only $75 at Good will even the history is worth keeping.

I hope this gets read.. I did the press to release, but how to do you relock into place? Just pulling forward on that same handle is not working.

I inherited one of these. Mine is a Kenmore gold series. Looks just like yours. Have you done shirts on yours yet? I can do everything except shirts. I make them worse. looking for some pointers. Thank you!

Seems to me that a simple flat iron and ironing board would have been a lot faster process.
