My wife and I lived in Tempe looking down on the Phoenix Valley in '97, and we witnessed the Phoenix lights with all our neighbors. I am an engineer, my neighbors were engineers and pilots. We watched for nearly 20 minutes until the lights drifted out of sight to the south... we knew without a doubt we were witnessing something that was NOT available technology or natural phenomena. It was a HUGE lighted object hovering and moving slowly. We called Police, Luke Field, the Airport... nothing... no followup. It's nice to see the Govt finally waking up and publicly admitting "something is going on".

I'll describe a bit of the event: I saw it first sitting by the swim pool with my wife... we observed, analyzed and discussed for 5 minutes. Then we went over to some of our neighbors and brought them out... and all 8 of us observed, analyzed, and discussed for another 15 minutes till the lights drifted over the mountains to the south. At first, we were all skeptical... flares? military aircraft over Luke Feild? Helicopters? With a growing sense of wonder and butterflies in the stomache, we realized we were seeing something not explainable, a HUGE object moving slowly. In our group we had 2 Airline Pilots and 2 Structural Engineers, all trained observers with good depth perception. There was no wind... the entire event from first sightings (near Prescott) to last (north of Tucson), the object drifted slowly southward for appx 40minutes, in perfect formation, over 200 miles before disappearing. THINK: Flares don't burn that long. The sky between the lights was pitch black, blotting out the stars... You could see the stars winking out on the leading side, and winking in on the passing side, as the object drifted south. We all have a good sense of depth perception... it was a HUGE object which we estimated at 10-15 miles away with very large lights... just the lights must have been at least 50'-100' in diameter. It was mesmerizing, and wondrous, and perplexing. It was not a natural phenomena, and not an object made by man.

I keep having nightmares about these lights, nightmares about vast moving objects with lights flying over the house, dead silent but with ungodly power and presence.

I know my father worked on the Air Force base and they were put on lockdown and jets were scrambled, it was not flares. The pilots that flew out came back and were terrified from what people that talked to them said.

The craft at the end of the video, that’s very similar to what my brother and I saw, in Tennessee. It was moving super slow. About 10 minutes later we saw 4 f-16s heading towards the object at super high speeds, like they were trying to intercept it

My opinion on the Phoenix Lights is that I personally believe the lights was a legitimate extraterrestrial craft. It was no way it was a top secret military craft, the size and and no sound is hard to explain. If it was top secret then everyone saw it, so that makes it not top secret. I believe the military/government was scared and really did not know how to handle it so they did the flare cover up story and didn’t want no involvement in it. My brother lived in Arizona during this and he said it was the most bizarre thing. People has seen these things way back in time. UFO reports are all over the world. Face it people, it’s reality we are not alone.

@@typouny In 1997 few people had a camera in their house, it was a luxury product, an extravagance, but it seems natural to me that contemplating something of this magnitude leaves people speechless and the last thing they think about is filming what they are seeing , maybe miss the event to go get a camera to film hmm I don't know. In any case, the only video where the object is apparently clearly seen was by a guy named Richard Curtis, but there is a rumored story that the government appropriated his material, which is a shame.

It's beautiful, to encounter a spacecraft not from earth, how lucky those people were. I would love to see one with my eyes. Definitely not scary or creepy, but mesmerising!

Footage and other sorts of evidence of the event is required in order for conclusions to be formed. In science, people witnessing an event is not enough. Even if 8 million people witness it, if there is no other sorts of evidence, (footage, the object entering the earth from space, radar detection) then experts are unable to review the event. So therefore, no clear conclusions, nor even ideas can be made over what happened

Trying to tell you that 1. It could very easily be a lie due to a lack of any other sorts of evidence (not saying it is a lie just saying that nobody will believe you in science if the only sort of evidence is three witnesses) and 2. It is more reasonable to assume that it is an earth bound object due to the same reason, lack of any other sorts of evidence.

The scary thing about these lights is that no one who has seen it has denied how creepy and inhuman it was, they KNEW it was something extraordinary

I cannot find the actual footage of the phoenix light which is super low floating above the houses. When I was young there was a video uploaded here as there was a resident who was able to take a video. In the footage, you will clearly see the ship is silently floating and flying slowly above the houses as it was taken 4o'clock in the afternoon. I think youtube deleted that video many years ago. Sad for those who haven't seen it.

Hi! I'm from Philippines and I saw this one when I was a kid. It was 8pm at night and I was looking out for constellations in the sky when suddenly I saw a moving V shaped constellation. It is funny how I used to see this from Ufo sighting compilation with a requiem for a dream backround music.

So I'm not crazy I saw this in Tucson Arizona at Wildwood park at about 8 or 9 on about 9 or 10 years ago. 3 lights zipping side to side covering distances of over a mile instantly and stopping with precise accuracy

The military or any other organisation doing precision flying is not going to.drop flares in daylight because it's too hard to track them against the blue sky & among all the reflections from the ground. Instead, they pick a nice dark night w little wind so they can get nice, clear footage.

I pulled over and had a VERY close view of whatever it was. Definitely weirded out. Most folks actually have never heard of it. The orbs of light were bright but never flickered. It was much larger than the mountain. It was motionless. No movement or sound. Clear night but could not see what was in the middle. Others stopped on interstate too. Was incredible because you really could not hear or see the object itself but was clearly there. Hope this helps.

I heard that there were two separate events. The apparent craft moving across Arizona was around 7.30 to 9.30. And then later incident around 10 to 10.30 that were flares, hence not moving across the land

Alex 24 I don't agree, Alex. This kind of phenomenon happened in France, Russia, Italy and others countries but not appeared for such a long time and not as so big as in Phoenix. It should seem that these phenomenons manifest for a long time, you're right, but not according to this frequency.

It was quite obvious that it was a flaying wing with projection with jet engines by NASA 😄 !

Those definitely were not flares. Always trying to cover up the fact theres life out there. 👽🛸

I can say that the "lights over phoenix" were bright flares with parachutes. The old style flares were going to expire soon so the pilots popped them off in succession to use them up. When the local Air Force Base was asked about it they said no Air Force unit was flying at the time but they were not tracking Air National Guard units which were conducting training missions in the area. Also the flares dropped below the mountain range which made them seem to disappear. Pilots at my guard base are asked about this story ever few years and they try to set the record straight but no one wants to hear it.

No one wants to hear it, because it's a lie. Flares do not fly in formation. I was in the military as well.

No you're wrong. These lights were reported at Flagstaff initially. They made a long journey South east to Phoenix which took about an hour.

Weather balloon

It looks A LOT like military jet flares, sorry, but of you watch vids online, especially now with the whole russia thing amping up, there are plenty of very similar videos. I see NO difference between the two at all, no moving of the lights, no soaring of anything, just hanging, then flickering out in perfect time flares...over Arizona

Frustrating. American journalists honestly. One measure of determining truth is by people's behaviours more so in how and what they say.. The people on the video speaking, that was the story not your narrative. Leave your own assumptions to the footnote, the rest we can work out for ourselves.

Why not recreate it then to prove it to people? If so it was done to cause panic, fear and deception and if true proof that they have technology way beyond what they are admitting and using trillions of our taxes to fund it whilst not sharing it with the public.

You do realise this was 1997? It was rare for people to have a home video camera back then and the quality was usually poor. Your average mobile camera today wouldnt be that great at capturing anything at night either.

People really need to hit a point where we stop feeling self centered, the universe is a vast ocean and we are somewhere in the middle of all of it. We aren’t the only life in the universe but continue to have that small minded boring idea if that is what entertains you
