How this popped up on my feed…I have no idea….. Merwin….my TWIN…..I MISS AND LOVE YOU….. We met each other as 18 year olds…1 day apart in birth. We played opposite one another in 3 shows…..My God, I needed this …… but dang you for leaving me…..
1776 is one of my all time favorite musicals! Great songs - and with historical messages. I saw the play on Broadway in the 1970's (had to see it, though I lived in Minnesota), and I saw the well done movie version. Later, in Minneapolis, I also saw a couple very good stage versions, including one a few years ago at the famous Tyrone Guthrie Theater. I never get tired of the message, and the lively and clever lyrics. Thanks for posting this.

The actor playing Lee was very good but the other two... meh. Adams would never have slouched on the bench like that. No one has every beat William Daniels performance as John Adams.
Adams sucks in this production

+mikehlebik To be fair, that's not the original John Adams of this production. That would be Brent Spiner (AKA Data from Star Trek). The actor who plays him here though, Michael McCormick, is understudying for him but he plays Caesar Rodney officially in this production.

The actor portraying Richard Henry Lee continually sings flat. There is no comparison between him and Ron Holgate from the original production and film.
