The situation presented at 6:47 is not check mate. Both players have about 10 sec left. The Black king is no longer trapped as soon as the White Rook moves to g8. The black king is than free to move to d7. Also, Black could have moved the bishop from e2 to c4, to stop the Rook moving to g8. As a delay action. One month on youtube, 174k views, from what i saw in the comments, only 2 other people noticed the game was not guaranteed to end in checkmate, and only 1 thumbs up between the 2.

Robert moved his rook behind the K-side pawns in the endgame and Hikaru immediately liquidated them. This also proves we don't need that constant blather that just takes away from good chess.

This is why I don't like playing without an increment over the board. I don't know why street players insist on playing without an increment. I guess it feels hardcore or whatever. The time scrambles at the end are always absurd. The pieces always get knocked over. At least make it a rule that if a piece is out of place when pressing the clock then it's a loss. Consider it an illegal move. Also the opponent shouldn't be able to start touching pieces until his clock is running.
