i got a question about this position termometer ... isnt it that that it shows a position strength from a perspective of one player only? i mean if player could make move that increases its termometer score it lies as to strength of position (as if you may make a move in that position than increases it then it lies) .. so not to lie this termomenter should show a position score that cannot be improved .. but if so isnt if from one player point ov wiev only? (im a bit lost in my logic at this moment)
@Sutoratosu
Жыл бұрын
@@johnstone5766 The thermometer is called the evaluation bar, and it works by a computer calculating X (usually 20 or 30) moves into the future, based on how the board is currently. As such, it doesn't represent how good one player is, it represents the advantage one player has, assuming both players play perfectly. The bar is negative if black is winning, and positive if white has an advantage. For example, let's say it's early in the game, and the bar is at +0.8. White is in the lead here, as white usually is by being able to go first, and that evaluation means the absolute best move by white will maintain that 0.8 advantage. If white makes the perfect move, it's now black's turn and will still show +0.8. Any move that black makes will, at best, keep it at +0.8 as the computer has already calculated all of these responses. If white makes a huge mistake, and gives away a bishop for free, that gauge will go from +0.8 to like -3 as the computer realizes black can just take the bishop and gain a huge tactical advantage.

@@MrMarcec85 One more example of an unjust world that is so often, as the saying goes, "sad but true." Chess has historically been a pay to play a game, and while it's true that the internet has made it more accessible for people to learn and play, that has regrettably had no real effect on the excessive costs involved surrounding the ordeal of live tournament chess. Without money, one simply can't compete equally. It's a shame that talent is so evenly distributed when wealth is anything but. To be fair, Hikaru was just playing casually, not really forcing anything. He was also well ahead on the clock. I mean, these days he is beating 2400s sacrificing the queen for a bishop so if he was really forcing there's no way somebody in a park would keep up. This is not to take anything from the guy, he played really well for the majority of the match. I think I would blunder from the emotions alone, playing Hikaru on the board.
@toziassmitt

@@alex86firelol this guy had a better move accuracy than hikaru. He might only be 2200 but he played a 93% accuracy here according to stockfish eval, whilst hikaru played 91% accuracy. The game finished in a drawn position. If not for time flagging, say if this was a +3 like most online chess, there’s a good chance the kid at the very least gets a draw. For the record stockfish 16 eval says that if he plays as accurate as he has been, he should actually win this game. You can say hikaru wasn’t taking it serious, but 91% accuracy is pretty serious lol. He just faced a worthy adversary here

I know literally nothing about chess but these videos are very relaxing to watch lol.
Wow! Would love to know if this is someone who has been playing since early childhood and studying theory or is truly a natural genius who has just been playing online for a few years. The game was competitive and Hikaru is clearly a world class player!
Love how Hikaru upload this, with appreciation. This youngster will very happy and maybe will more upgrading his skill and being future WC. Who know the impact of small things.

Nice comment. WC has more than one meaning, though ;)
Madrid is the best city for outdoor chess, so many people playing it in so many parks and the weather is always on our side
WOW what a great game. Hikaru is pretty cool man. A memory that kid will cherish forever.
A role model. GM Hikaru. Such humility
I always knew Hector Salamanca had the makings of a chess athlete.

@@danwdrums "thank you very much sir, you're a gentleman and a scholar." And I love the fact that at least one person got it.
Amazing... Well played sir!
Hikaru is a great human GM. What a man!!! Really proud of this guy.
Only 2400 Lichess? He played like 3000 Lichess. What a great game from both parties. As well as big Hiki being very humble and complimentary towards his opponents when they play and exceed his his expectations going into it.

he said 2200 lol i feel like he's underrated at 22. I'm 22 and I can honestly admit the guy is a class above me.
Hustler in the streets, super gm in the score sheets.
the fact that youtube translate the background conversation so wrong in spanish is gold hahahaha
so wholesome. bless them both
That kid played a damn good game like super GM level sht. Hikaru loved it! They both did!🍻
Love to see language barriers knocked down over chess one thing they both understood and had fun with
Great game, with a great background music. El Retiro has this nostalgic 80s. atmosphere.
Young dude was kinda humble. He will be a good character in chess. Hope he is keep playing.
08:11 Hikaru asks his rating and he explains he is unrated, and Hikaru is silent for a moment, and genius looks up to see if has more to say.... gives a half smile... and then... Hikaru says "good game" and it breaks out into full smile haha. There's the affirmation :D
Everybody is talking about the kid but I can't stop watching that old dude in the background living his best life.
the game next door: "No my friend" =) - classic chess swindling talk right there
Hikaru thinks he is in the final episode of The Queen's Gambit, walking through the park and playing chess. Kris: You have two more rounds at the candidates.
Huge honor to play Hikaru and he even ask his rating!
so nice to see a candidate play young guys around the world at the park
Hikaru was actually paying attention to the game the entire time
Nice game cool to see a very casual relaxing game like this.
Actually great play by the other guy!
Uno de los pocos videos del canal, en el que se escuchará hablar nuestro idioma (español), en el ambiente.
I love the conversation in the background 🤣🤣
The conversations around this game are absolutely hysterical, specially the older man in the background.
