🤔 Hikaru employs a very clever strategy by making very fast moves keeping the clock ticking on his opponents timer, not his! Hikaru uses the time his opponents take to decide what moves they make and then when it's his turn he moves in 1-2 seconds! It keeps his opponent off balance and they make errors so they take extra time to figure out what Hikaru is doing! So in essence🤫, Hikaru limiting his time to 1 minute is actually 6 minutes, his 1 and the opponents 5! 🦂🥂

That's true for everyone, though. Every chess player is supposed to think about the position both during their time and during the time of the opponent. Nakamura simply does it better than most people.

@@Splitlickity What I mean is when you play a timed match and your opponent sets up his pieces in an attacking or defensive position and then basically just sits there making no real movements to advance. Basically they are waiting for you to start panicking due to time running out and then have to start sacrificing pieces. They basically want to win by making you run out of time not by checkmate

@@marianodiaz7327 Of course the quality of chess isn't gonna be 100% but i guess that's the point? To challenge him, to create chaos on the board. I love the variety of chess content available. There's classical chess for high quality moves, i followed the Tata Steel closely and it was an amazing event, top players playing near perfect chess. The PCL is also an amazing format, something more in between, good quality chess but with the time pressure. The 1-minute chess that coffee chess is posting that Hikaru is playing is, to me, equally fascinating, to see literally one of the best in the world playing IM-level chess with 60s on the clock in OTB, to me that's just as fascinating
