He's 16?? He must've had a tough paper round!
It was a gentleman move of him to accept the draw and not flag Hikaru, who started with only 1 min.

its time odds, very common in chess when there is a large skill gap. people also play piece odds when its an even bigger skill gap
Robert looks like he just woke up out of bed, probably prepping the night before for this moment.
Chess is truly a crazy game. The intricacies are extraordinary..
Good game; instructive post-game analysis, & Hikaru as charming & engaging as ever... thank you coffee chess!

That wouldnt have been much of a contest. Hikaru can win against weaker GMs with those odds and this man's just an IM. They needed the parity to make it intersting

Hikaru is beyond a great player
He threw a little bit of shade at him by saying "he traded queens as white, what am i supposed to do", just found that a bit funny
Hikaru is another level we know the outcome on this game
Not easy to play with so little time. An endgame with Rob would have ost Hikaru a loss on time. In the end, it's all about time!

Where is golani?
🤔 Hikaru employs a very clever strategy by making very fast moves keeping the clock ticking on his opponents timer, not his! Hikaru uses the time his opponents take to decide what moves they make and then when it's his turn he moves in 1-2 seconds! It keeps his opponent off balance and they make errors so they take extra time to figure out what Hikaru is doing! So in essence🤫, Hikaru limiting his time to 1 minute is actually 6 minutes, his 1 and the opponents 5! 🦂🥂

That's true for everyone, though. Every chess player is supposed to think about the position both during their time and during the time of the opponent. Nakamura simply does it better than most people.
Is it just me but did there seem to be a fair amount of stalling during this match until the end?
@Splitlickity
Жыл бұрын
What do you mean by stalling?
@chrisspaeth6604
Жыл бұрын
@@Splitlickity What I mean is when you play a timed match and your opponent sets up his pieces in an attacking or defensive position and then basically just sits there making no real movements to advance. Basically they are waiting for you to start panicking due to time running out and then have to start sacrificing pieces. They basically want to win by making you run out of time not by checkmate
Instead of Rd3, Bd2. Dodged a bullet.
All that fast opening got ya hurt little buddy

@@marianodiaz7327 Of course the quality of chess isn't gonna be 100% but i guess that's the point? To challenge him, to create chaos on the board. I love the variety of chess content available. There's classical chess for high quality moves, i followed the Tata Steel closely and it was an amazing event, top players playing near perfect chess. The PCL is also an amazing format, something more in between, good quality chess but with the time pressure. The 1-minute chess that coffee chess is posting that Hikaru is playing is, to me, equally fascinating, to see literally one of the best in the world playing IM-level chess with 60s on the clock in OTB, to me that's just as fascinating

The feud of 2 super brains.
Very instructive instructional tactic given at the end. The game itself was closed and not filled with double edged positions but it was well worth viewing to see Hikuru so relaxed and smiling, a lion king on his 64 Square savanna. Robert usually rules this turf but here he's a cheetah by comparison. Definitely a stereotype buster if you follow chess scuttlebutt from any number of streamers. Thanks for sharing. YES! Because 1. He may be the first one who got so much as a draw. 2. I think Hikaru is rated the best in the world in minute speed chess. 3.
