The singer nails the DLR voice and on-stage persona. And, of course, Stratton, you are are the real deal. I enjoy every video you post.

I've been watching Stratton since his garage playing days (half hour ago) he's/they are awesome. I attended Eagle Rock Junior and High School in Los Angeles California, near Pasadena. When I was in the seventh grade back in 1975 Van Halen came to our school and played at our high school quad during lunch, it was awesome.

This is too fu...excuse me... freakin' cool (you're still only 16..lol.. I don't want to ever be accused of badly influencing a minor...so, next year...haha)! Just now discovered you from the GNR SCOM Garage video you did a few years back. Seems you've always been fortunate to have great equipment, too, for your age. Excellent! Liked and subscribed... looking forward to a lot more. Great job...cool band..thanks for posting.

Thank you so much! Let me explain why your comment means so much to me. The video is going on 4.5 million views at this point. Most people watch, and move on without commenting. That’s cool. I do that a lot too when I’m browsing. Then of the engagement, 95% of the people give a thumbs up. That’s cool. You can’t keep everyone happy! I get it. Then... we have the commenters. Most are kind and supportive. But...for whatever reason, there’s this group of people that can’t wait to make a negative (notice I didn’t say constructive) comment. And here’s what most negatives focus on in order of popularity of the subject: 1. The bass is out of tune at the beginning. (I know. Long story). 2. The singer can’t sing (he was 12 and got the job because none of us wanted to do it. He actually plays guitar. He did dang good considering most 12 year olds can’t compete a sentence in front of a crowd that big). 3. Those kids are spoiled. What parents buy their spoiled kids that kind of gear? Number 3 is where you come in. You acknowledged the gear and said “fortunate”. Now that’s the way to do it. Yes....very fortunate. We all were. Most of the gear was borrowed. Those that did own their own instruments/amps got them different ways. I received my guitar as a gift from my parents. Studio model,, scratch and dent. Cracked headstock. Etc. Still my favorite guitar but it was less than $500. I’ll never get rid of it. My friends at that age were attending summer sports camps, had top of the line TVs and video games in their rooms, and paid for sports gear that when added all up, exceeded the cost of my gear. Now was it an investment? I think so. I’ve been playing live since I was 12 and have been paid since I was 14. I work hard and understand that music is also a business. I’ve made enough money to cover ALL the cost of my gear, max out my IRA each year, and put money back in savings so I don’t have to work after school. I know that’s rather long but I just thought I’d share with you that the kindness and maturity in your comment in a critical world was noticed. Thank you. Ps- I’m guessing you are a player with a channel name like that. I’ll recommend a couple of things while I have your attention. Kemper Profiling Amos. Pariah Pickups. Empire Ears monitors. That’s my gear these days in a nutshell and I couldn’t be happier. Thanks for the sub. It means a lot.

Stratton James Thank you for sharing your story. My sister and I were commenting today on your videos and she noticed all your equipment. I told her I had a feeling you started working at a young age and saved up for all the equipment. You are a great example to your peers. We all have to work hard to get to where we want to be. You keep going. It’s evident you are enjoying your youth despite the hard beginnings. Side note: for all those that were picked on, called names like nerd or weirdo, etc...some of us kept going and turned out great. We are your doctors, nurses, and even rock legends. 😉
