16-year-old arrested in connection to wildfire in Wenatchee
A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection to a wildfire burning in Wenatchee that prompted evacuations Friday.
The teen could face multiple charges, according to the Chelan County Sheriff's Office.
The fire, dubbed the Balsam Root fire by authorities, is burning north and west of West Wenatchee. The National Weather Service posted a gif of the fire burning on a hill with structures pictured nearby. Structures and homes are threatened by the fire.
State fire assistance has been mobilized to help contain the fire by the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan.

I am in the Thompson fire, like the woman being interviewed, you don't have much time. If the wind hadn't of changed, we would not have a house. Arson is suspected from a homeless camp. Our community got lucky this time, 6 homes burned. Thank you firefighters, we love you.

More likely a kid in the neighborhood playing with fireworks.
People have no clue how fast a tiny flame can become a huge wildfire. It only takes a minute.
"Human caused" is called arson - not a wildfire.

Negligence/stupidity is not arson, however willful intent is. Just like involuntary manslaughter and first degree murder. Sadly, the end result is the same: people dead, mourning factor the same.

Now where are all the people saying "it was not arson, just a wildfire." And do not try and confuse the wording, it is what it is. ARSON, a fire set deliberately PERIOD!
I feel like the fire ten years ago allowed this one to be contained. Fires prevent fires.

Agreed. We now have more equipment, better technology, and probably more man power. We are also more aware of the danger.
Why do people build their houses on property that has burned most summers, as long as humans have lived in Washington.
ALL firefighters are THE BEST. They risk their lives to save us and our property.
