Some old houses can't be saved but I will never understand why a lot of the woodwork, doors, windows, bricks, fixtures can't be salvaged?? It breaks my heart to see these gorgeous old houses destroyed.

Yeah because that house really seems historic, definitely not like a normal horrible house from that country

It was nasty inside. It contained asbestos and dry rot. It needed to be crunched up. No way to save it.

@@PreservationEnthusiastIt contained asbestos, eh? So, this video is evidence of someone doing a demolition of a structure without following asbestos abatement guidelines? Interesting!

I would've repaired and updated that house instead of tearing it down. It's history, and it was built far better than any of the new cookie-cutter garbage made today. And if it contained asbestos, there are asbestos removal companies to deal with that. It would've been an expensive rehab, but preserving history is worth it.

Why did it have to be taken down?just curious. Wish i was there, i would take all the bricks you would give me! 😉 post and beam construction, no insulation, i bet it was 60 amp service, and nail and peg electrical service! looks like it would be a great site for a new house. More modern. Sometimes costs more money to renovate to current standards.

It was abandoned several decades ago and the family moved to the house we're currently staying in now. An outside corner had come apart and it was very old/a health hazard due to asbestos in the walls and such. Very sad.

Red Fox from (Sanford and Son) would always call Lamont a big dumby, so who was the big dumby here that didn't take 150 year old inside doors. They're not cheap, "you big Dumby"!!

They were painted. Given the age, likely with lead paint. Probably not worth trying to salvage because of that.

Is a reason that the fire department could not have used it as a training burn?

That was my suggestion. There's another building directly behind it, so I was told it wasn't feasible.
