Hi guys, thx for your awesome reaction, her name is Emma Kok, she lives in my town Kerkrade in the Netherlands (Holland) the guy with the beard and glasses you see several times in the video is her dad and the girl on right her sister, she has won the Voice Kids with doing that song among others, it's a french song but she is dutch, she has a disease which is hard to explain, she cant eat normaly and has a probe attached to her stomach almost 24/7, not when she's performing, she has created a foundation and spends lots of her own earned money for research and cure for that disease, the name of the violinist and componist of the orchestra is Andre Rieu from Maastricht in Netherlands and this was recorded in the Centre of that City, Andre Rieu is world famous for his concerts and stage settings all over the world, this is just some info about her and the orchestra ❤

I feel so honored that I saw her and heard her live during the Andre Rieu concert in Malta last Friday. It was the first time she sang with the orchestra abroad. Everyone was amazed by her. I have no words to express all the emotions I feel. What a blessing.

The song is about a singer who is pleading to her audience to love her basically. She needs them and is baring herself and may not even survive even with their love but she begs for it nonetheless. Voila means “here” and she’s saying over and over Here I Am. It’s a beautiful story and really poignant given this young woman’s life. She wants them to love her even though it might not even save her life, it’s still everything to her.

The stage presence Emma has for one so young and petite is astonishing. She commanded that huge space with pure talent and charisma.

@@chasingbirds3073 Well, the physical size of people and the proportions of the space they find themselves in are factors in a range of situations, particularly in this case with a huge outdoor space and the relatively small stature of the individual. Without the large screens at either side of the stage, those at the back of the audience would have hardly been able to see her. So, it is relevant and some thought needs to be put into considering it. Speaking of thought, any chance of you putting some thought into beginning a sentence with a capital letter, or are you in too much of a hurry to chase some birds?

This "orchestra" guys is one of (if not the) most famous live orchestra travelling the world right now. Andre Rieu and his orchestra is a huge group of famous artists internationally. Everyone in the audience came for the, and Emma, as weird as it sounds just looking at this video, was just 1 guest singer. But good news for the fans: They are bringing Emma on tour with them, starting their world tour in January 2024.

Where does she get her confidence from? I guess from having to fight her disease all her life & the bullying when she was younger, facing an audience of 12000+ is nothing in comparison. I get the impression that she loves performing live rather than making records, she lives for it, its her "medicine"; she said she feels free when singing. If you check out her live performances when she was younger, younger being a year or so ago, you can see she was very comfortable both singing & talking to an audience. God bless her.

Apparently she goes along with this orchestra's world tour. Andre's orchestra is specialised in waltzes. Classical music with singers from all over the world. His orchestra performsn worldwide for nearly two decades now. From Australia to Brazil and from US to Japan. He is world famous and probably one of the best to watch especially how he makes the audience's participate. He also comes out with the most amazing talents. From 3 year old violinists to a 7 year old opera singer. Amazing shows. You might want to look into it. His performance in Brazil is of this world and even his US tours are more than impressive. Ahhh. You chose a wrong (shortened) version without the very important intro by Andre Rieu. It is the inroduction of Emma Kok on stage where Andre explains about Emma's health situation. That context is what makes this video and performace so much more touching. It also explaines why so many people in the audience were crying.

Next year she has been invited with Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss orchestra on a world tour and she will probably sing a song every performance.

I saw the Andre Rieu live last year in Maastricht and heard her she was phenomenal very emotional performance

She was singing in French, but she is not French. The song is very emotional that matched almost perfectly her sad personal story. Some of the lyrics was like "You can have me, or what's left of me." She suffers from a very debilitating illness.

This is one of my favorite songs to whistle.

the word "kok" is a Dutch word for someone who works in the kitchen of a restaurant. And the boss in that kitchen is called "chef" when people got surnames many people chose their profession. common names are, for example: the farmer (farmer) shoemaker (shoe fixer) captain (boss on a boat) etc.

The Orchestra is André Rieu's (who's considered peak of the peak in classical music) "Johann Strauss Orchester", which is around 70 people give or take. The outfits they got (including Emma's dress) are all custom, Emma has posted on her IG about the lady who made them.

The lady who makes the dresses is Gosia Tarnowski, Emma calls her ‘The Dress Fairy’. There is a nice video on YT showing where she was making 250 dresses along with Emma’s outfits for the Christmas concerts. ❤

You know her physical condition so she can not sing a full concert. She has to be connected 22 hrs per day. But it is also amazing how good the orchestra supports her. 70 strong and they follow her, don't blow her over. And they are on a world tour now, the Grand Little Lady. There is a lot to know about this performance. She does not know french, so had to learn it phonetically, crystal clear and without an accent. She had to adopt this style of singing. And the orchestra follows and supports her flawless. That took weeks of effort. This is not just an orchestra, but a multi million dollar company which Andre started 20 years ago and owns. And they travel the world and pull 30.000 crowds. Just one detail, where do they get all this fancy ballroom dresses from, which all the women wear ? They are all homemade in his base in Maastricht.

It is a pitty you did not listen to the story André told about her before she start to sing. Then the song would even hit you more.

The Dutch ch sound is hard in English. Imagine saying G with a fly down your throat? I wish I knew how to explain that sound but I bet you cannot pronounce my family name correctly either. Andre Rieu did twelve concerts at that huge town square this year with Emma performing and she will join him on an international tour (and doing school through world school). Rieu and his orchestra will perform the Dutch hymn at the Formula 1 race in Zandvoort this Sunday (August 27) and he was emotional when during an interview Emma sent him a good luck video.

I suggest looking up the lyrics. This is an amazing song and her voice is suberb!
