So guys, I uploaded this video yesterday, but with a couple of video & audio filters, because the video got patrially blocked everytime. It wasn't a very good watching experience, let's say. Generally I'd strive for the video to be watchable everywhere, which is why I tried again and again by adding filters on the video & audio. I posted it again now without any filters, so it might not be visible for everyone, for which I apologize, but perhaps it's still the better option... I've been doing this for 2,5 years now and it's still a proces of trial and error sometimes. I hope you guys understand. I unlisted the previous video to avoid confusion.

I think her brother sat in for some concerts but he is pursuing a solo career, as is Emma. She may sing with the orchestra from time to time but not in the chorus. She will do well I imagine doing records because of her having to be connected to the devices that are keeping her alive. That's my guess anyway and it seems plausible. That's it, that's all I got.

@@jazluvr99 Well I just re-read my comment and I'm not sure I was making any sense. I get bouts of insomnia and, believe it or not, write things like that when I fall asleep. I don't know how I manage to write complete sentences. Sorry about the gobbldie gook writing. Nothing this little force of nature can and will do would surprise me. I might be amazed, but not surprised. From the first time I saw her on The Voice Kids Holland where I wrote, 'OK, who's finishing second', she commanded the stage. The camera and the rest of the known universe are in love with her. She is tougher than a box of rocks and remains as sweet as she is, dealing with what she has to.

Emma and her family are from Kerkrade in Limburg and André Rieu is also from Limburg, from Maastricht and he holds a concert in his hometown every year. Her brother Enzo competed as well in a talentshow on Dutch tv called Superstars when he was 12. That's when André Rieu invited him to play with his orchestra at Maastricht. Emma's sister is also a singer. When Emma had her own theatershow last year, Emma and her sister sang Starry, Starry Night together, you can find the video of that performance on KZread. In your video at 12:26 you see her brother, but also her father and sister. Her mother was assisting her backstage. Emma is connected to two feeding tubes 22 hours per day, but when she's performing she disconnects them. That's why she said that when she performs, she feels free, she can forget about her disease.

Not only she understands what she is singing, Emma expresses her life with this performance. Quite astonishing, since she doesn't speak French. She had to learn the lyrics word after word phonetically. A true talent.

When I first saw this, I cried my eyes out. She has the rare talent to bring musicality to her performance. Even though most of us didn't understand what she was singing, she was able to portray the emotions of the lyrics. That sense of longing and just wanting to give her gift to the world. Perfect song choice for her. There's absolutely nothing I would ever want to change about this performance. I can't wait to watch her grow and develop her voice.

For me, there's even an element of resolute defiance in the way she delivers this song. It's almost as though she's singing as much to the disease as she is to us, the audience: "I am a Warrior... And I will NOT let you beat me!!!"

Great reaction! At present, the original video has over 17M views. From birth, Emma has to be hooked to feeding tubes 22 hours a day because her stomach is paralyzed (gastroparesis), The only time she says she feels free is the two hours when she is not hooked to them. She was bullied in school because she was small and kids did not understand her condition. She could not participate in many of her classmate's activities. Yet, she persevered. She pours all of her pain and frustration into her passion which is singing. If you get a chance, watch Andre Rieu's (the conductor) introduction to her before she sings Voila. He has asked her to go on tour with him in 2024 but before that, she will sing in a couple of his Christmas concerts. In 2021, she won The Voice Kids Netherlands and this year she won the first season of the new talent show Ministars on Dutch television. Emma can only speak Dutch and English. She learned how to speak French phonetically just for this song. Look up the lyrics of Voila in English or find a video that has them. You'll cry again when you understand what she is singing about. Greetings from Oegstgeest 🇳🇱

Sometimes it is what it seems, we just aren't fully informed. Emma must be attached to a pump that injects 'food' directly in to her intestines. She must be connected 22 hours a day to get the amount needed to live. So what you are seeing are a part of the 2 hours a day she can be free of the pumps. She made the decision to have the inlet tubes and pump connectors surgically installed in her body. It is a very painful proposition but you'd never hear it from Emma. Now aside from that she is an accomplished singer. She owns the stage even though she's the smallest thing on stage besides the Mic stand. Then out comes this beautiful clear and pure voice. So strong and yet with an almost fragile quality to it. Whatever you deem it to be it is in a word, beautiful. So let's sit back and enjoy a wonderful singer.

You are right, Dutch Emma doesn’t speak French normally but learned the phonetic pronunciation of the song from a coach. That’s probably why she enunciates the words so clearly. Hmm…good question, now that she is high school age, I wonder if she’ll study a new language….

English translation.. Listen to me, I am the half-singer Talk about me, to your loves, to your friends Talk about this girl with black eyes And her crazy dream I just want to write stories That awaken you That's it Voilà, voilà, voilà, here I am I am here even if I am naked, yes I am here in the noise and in the silence Look at me, or at least of what you see Look at me, and then what you hate of me What do you think, of the books That teach you something else ? It's little of things, but I want to speak to you, I speak [my words] to you Voilà Voilà, voilà, voilà, here I am I am here even if I am naked, yes It's my war, it's my cry, that I can be heard Voilà, voilà, voilà, I am just here Me, my dream, and my envies, that I scream at, like a laugh I am here in the noise and the silence Please don't leave me, I want you to stay for a little longer But it don't matter, no But do whatever you want to Amuse me like you are a friend that will stay forever Because that's what I would like, that is me I don't know how to love my colour Voilà, voilà, voilà, here I am I am here even if it's the last look I am here in the silence and the fury as well Look at me finally and my eyes and my hands That's all I have, it's my war, it's my cry I am here, I am here, I am here Voilà Voilà Voilà, voilà

Just some additional info to point out how incredibly brave this 15 years old Emma Kok is: - Two food pumps are connected - The pumps are connected to her 22 hours per day! - She was bullied at school The audience (12.000+) is mainly Dutch 🇳🇱, but also from Belgium 🇧🇪, Germany 🇩🇪, Luxembourg and France 🇫🇷. Part of the audience does speak French and knows exactly what Emma is singing. This makes it even more emotional. The lyrics translated to English 🇬🇧 "Listen to me Me, the wannabe singer Talk about me To your loves, to your friends Tell them about this girl with black eyes and her crazy dream Me, what I want is to write stories that reach you That’s all Here, here, here, here I am, Here I am even if stripped naked I am afraid, yes Here I am in the noise and in the silence Look at me, or at least what’s left Look at me, before I hate myself What to tell you, that another’s lips won’t tell you It’s not much but all that I have I drop it there, that’s it Here, here, here, here is who I am, Here I am even if stripped bare, it’s over It’s my mouth, it’s my cry, here I am too bad Here, here, here, here I am my dream, my desire, like I’m dying, like I laugh at it Here I am in the noise and in the silence Don’t go, I’m begging you, stay a long time, It may not save me, no But to do without you, I don’t know how Love me as we love a friend who goes away forever I want us to love me because I don’t know how to like my outlines Here, there, here, here I am, Here I am even if exposed, it is finished Here I am in the noise and in the fury too Look at me, finally, and my eyes and my hands All that I have is here, it’s my mouth, it’s my cry Here I am, here I am, here I am Here we are, here we are, here we are Here I am".

At first I have to admit I was annoyed by all your interruptions but as the video continued I changed my mind because I knew you were very sincere about why you kept stopping it and even apologized. Emma's strength and determination to do what she can do and loves to do in the face of adversity is so very heartwarming. Then, from the first note, we quickly realize she is a wonderful singer, a great storyteller with a very appealing voice and she owned the stage and mesmerized the entire audience and it included all the people watching the video of this performance. Nice reaction... Maybe too many interruptions, but still nice. There are more people speaking or understanding French than you think. French chansons had and still have quite a large influence in the Dutch music scene. Many Dutch chansonniers from the past contributed to this. The music style itself can be heard, including accordeon, in many older folk songs in Amsterdam. Not only Aznavour, Montane, Piaf or Julian Clerc are popular artists in the Netherlands, but also Jacques Brel from Belgium was very popular just like Fabian, Sardou or Garou. Also, thousands and thousands Dutch people going for their holidays to France. French is the fourth language after Dutch, English and German. And especially in the classical genre, where there is a lot of French or Italian lyrics, a lot of Dutch people do understand what it is about. The population is minimal bi-lingual. But as I said... Many do speak more than just Dutch or English. Diplomacy and world trade are very strong points in this tiny country. For centuries now... Beside of that.. 😅 Emma is an amazing artist... Gorgeous young lady with a beautiful voice. More of a powerhouse than a vulnerable little poorly girl. Proper artist.. 🙂 Thank you for your nice, but with too many interrupting moments, reaction 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌷

This is me, even when I lie open I'm afraid, yes This is me in the noise and in the silence Look at me, or at least what's left of me Look at me before I hate myself What shall I tell you that another's lips will not tell you? It's little, but it's all I have; I put it there. That's it Voilà, voilà, voilà, this is who I am This is me me, even if I lie open, it is finished This is my face, this is my scream, this is who I am Voilà, voilà, voilà, it's right here Me, my dream, my desire, how I go to ruin, how I laugh at it That's me in the noise and in the silence. Don't go, I beg you, stay for a long time. It may not save me, no But to live without you, I don't know how to do it. Love me like you love a friend who's going away forever I want people to love me because I can't like my outline Voilà, voilà, voilà, this is who I am This is me, even when I lie open, it's over This is me in the noise and also in the rage Look at me, and in the end also my eyes and my hands All I have is here, it's my face, it's my screaming This is me me, this is me me Voilà Voilà Voilà, voilà Voilà

I didn't ruin the experience, I had a great time listening. I understand what you mean though, but there are reasons reactors pause the video regularly, I'm sure you're aware of that?

  • @Breaking__Chad

@@YBPlaysMusic No, I'm not honestly sure why REACTORS do. Analysts, yes. Because they're critiquing the performer. But a reaction video is just that. You watch the video, get the feels it delivers, and tell us the thoughts afterwards. We can SEE the reactions in your facial expressions. The wide eyes, the jaw drops. You absolutely do ruin the experience for yourself when you pause it like that. It's like that build-up of emotion that you're experiencing, and then you shut it down right before the next big moment can hit you and really give you those goosebumps. Do you know what I mean?

  • @YBPlaysMusic

@Breaking__Chad well, first of all, for copyright reasons, playing a video/audio non-stop just gets you so much more chance of getting copyright issues, claims, blocks or even strikes. Also, depending on the video, I sometimes go deeper into the video or song than other ones, so I'm not analyzing all of the time, although I sometimes do. Also, you might just want to see facial expressions but a lot of people also want to know what we actually think during the reaction because it can also be relatable, or we can sometimes point some things out viewers haven't noticed before, sometimes it's other way around. Some like it more the way you enjoy it, some like it more this way...

There's performers that you would cut in but for a performer such as Ema and the song when you cut in you do Injustice to the song and her. Let her and her performance flow and after listen to it again and comment all you want. Yea l left way far at middle beginning you butchered it to much
